Pulau Redang Trip 14~16 April 2023 – Laguna Redang Island Resort

Oh dear, this was my first travel post since my last trip to Penang in 2020 December!

On last month, my family (except my bro’s family) together with my brother-in-law’s family, we went on an excursion to Pulau Redang, the beautiful island located off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, in the state of Terengganu.

Thank you for the full board package of Laguna Redang Island Resort arranged by bro-in-law. Laguna Redang Island Resort is a popular beachfront resort on the island which was famed as the set for the Hong Kong movie “Summer Holiday” (夏日的么么茶), starring Sammi Cheng and Richie Ren back in 2000.

We opted to drive to Kuala Terengganu and took the boat transfer arranged by the resort. The boarding jetty to Laguna Redang Island Resort was in Taman Tamadun Islam and ferry service was scheduled at 9.30am and 12.00pm, respectively. Outdoor parking are ample here.

The jetty and our air conditioned ferry. The ride from the jetty to the resort took approximately 1½ hours.

Buggy service for resort guests to and fro the hotel and jetty.

What greeted us before reaching the hotel lobby was this breathtaking view of white sandy beach with crystal-clear turquoise water, shimmering in the bright sunlight. The best time to visit Pulau Redang, is during its dry season, which typically spans from March to October.

The resort lobby.

Lobby Island Bar

The spacious Sang Suria Buffet restaurant, with a stunning beach view is where we had our daily breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet.

Our Deluxe Garden Room on second floor was spacious, equipped with a queen size bed and two single beds as well as an extra single size mattress, which can accommodate up to six persons. The design of the wooden themed room was a bit dated but rather well maintained. Basic amenities such as TV (with limited channels), air-cond, ceiling fan, luggage rack, safe deposit box, disposable slippers and coffee table were provided. Yes, WIFI wasn’t available in the room. (‘A`)

The balcony is good for drying all our laundry, swimsuits and life jackets. (^○^)

Mini fridge and coffee & tea making facilities.

Separated toilet and bathroom, as well as simple toiletries and hair dryer were provided.

The corridor outside our room. I would suggest to get the room on ground floor if you’re coming with elderly. =.=”

Premier Seaview Rooms comes with a long balcony overlooking the white sandy beach and deep blue sea. I like how the resort is surrounded with well manicured landscapes and plenty of plants especially palm/coconut trees which elevate the tropical atmosphere.

Tiger toys were placed around the resort to scare the monkeys.

Other than monkeys, “visitors” like squirrels and small monitor lizards can be seen in the resort compound.

If you’re not a beachgoer, the resort’s big swimming pool completed with kid’s pool (with water slide) and jacuzzi definitely can impress you.

The steamboat restaurant in the resort for those who want a change of food during the stay.

The More More Tea Inn in sweet pastel colours is one of the most popular attractions in the island for photo taking. The building was initially designed as a temporary set for the Hong Kong movie “Summer Holiday” and this is the rebuilt unit as the actual building was demolished due to structural problem. It’s convenient cum souvenir shop now and located right beside the hotel lobby.

The resort is situated on a beautiful stretch of white sandy beach, overlooking the turquoise waters of the South China Sea.

The beautiful stretch of soft fine white sandy beach in front of the resort that slopes gently into the clear, turquoise waters of the South China Sea is heaven to both kids and adults. There were substantial sun loungers and umbrellas available for guests to relax and soak up the sun, or simply admire the astonishing views of the sea.

The sea was clear and calm, making it ideal for swimming (even for a non-swimmer ike me), snorkeling, and other water sports like kayaking and paddle boarding.

For full board package guests like us, we were given a meal card like above and need to bring it to the restaurant for every meal. Food was decent, in terms of variety and flavours. BBQ dinner was provided on our last night in the resort, Terengganu signature delicacies such as Nasi Dagang and Keropok Lekor were available.

The package also included two snorkelling sessions per day to open sea and Redang Marine Park. Photos above were the marine park session that I joined on my second day. Please be reminded that life jacket and mask are not included in the package, the equipment can be rent at the resort recreation centre at RM30/set, and can be used for your whole stay in the resort.

Night life in the resort – life performance and drinking session at Tupai Bar. (-‿◦)

The spectacular fire show in conjunction of their 𝟮𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. (ʘдʘ)          \(^◇^)/

Last but no least, photo of yours truly ✿♥‿♥✿ and the not-so-perfect sunrise that we caught on the last day on the island.

Verdict: It’s my first visit to Pulau Redang and as a non beach lover, I enjoyed immensely my holiday at Laguna Redang Island Resort. The water playing in picturesque crystal clear sea, stroll by the beachfront, decent food and accommodation, and of course the precious bonding time with the families, has make up to a perfect short getaway! The only downside is I need to purchase more whitening products for my tanned skin. T_T
