Restoran Chua Kee @ Gelang Patah, Johor
After a fun-filled water play session at LEGOLAND® Water Park, we settled our lunch at Restoran Chua Kee which is located at Gelang Patah, a short drive (5 – 10 minutes) away from LEGOLAND® Water Park.
Restoran Chua Kee is famous for their black pepper crab but we didn’t try it this round because there were only 3 of us. Next time perhaps 🙂

Tucked away in a village, there is a open air private parking space right opposite the restaurant.

Like most of the typical “zhu char”煮炒 places, the setting is simple furnished with simple round tables an plastic chairs. Besides the aforementioned signature black pepper crab, they also serve full range of chicken, pork, seafood, vegetables, rice and noodles dishes at fairly reasonable price.

Honey Taste Chicken Wings (RM 10.00)
Deep fried chicken wings coated with garlic infused sweet sauce. I like the chicken wings but not the gooey sauce >_<

Butter Pork Cube (RM 12.00)
The deep fried pork cubes were crispy, generously coated with rich and moreish butter sauce. The addition of the curry leaves imparts a mellow of herbaceous to the overall dish. Pretty addictive I would say.

Mix Vegetables (RM 8.00)
Simple stir fried assorted vegetables for the Vitamin C quota.
Verdict: Food wise, nothing too outstanding but every reviews I’ve read raved about their signature black pepper crab, seem like I have to pay a revisit to judge it myself.

I rarely visit zhu char places… not as frequent as we used to (back then I still eat rice for dinner)
I skip rice for dinner too and I only eat the dishes if I visit zhu char place 🙂
I only got to know about Gelang Patah from last election 😀
U definitely better than me KY, I’m not even heard about this place until I visit this restaurant 😛
I’ve always associated butter sauce with prawns or squid…but this butter pork looks nice too 🙂
this rendition is slightly different with what we usually had. This was dryer without any excess sauce.
now you’ve made me also curious about their crabs! 😀
I’m tempting to try that black pepper crabs too~
Nice! I love eating while on road trips, you find a lot of interesting places. One time my better half’s brother brought us to eat crabs. It was RM 330 for just a few kgs but it was really good.
I will ask recommendations from local friends so I can get the best food from that place 😛
The black pepper crab is over cook and taste bitter and the fish is over cook too, will never eat there again
Richard, so sorry for your not-so-pleasant experience, perhaps the chef was not in good mood that day. 😛
