Restoran Rojak SS15 Subang Jaya @ Subang Jaya

I needed to get a new yoga /exercise mat as my current one was getting thinner and losing its grippiness. So after our lunch on Malaysia Day, hubby brought me and Sam to Decathlon’s Biggest Store in Southeast Asia – the Shah Alam branch, with 10,000 sqm sales area.

Me was being naughty tried on the horse riding boots and helmet which is a rather rare sport (equestrian sports) in Malaysia.

After we done with the shopping, it’s time for afternoon tea and we found ourselves at the famous Rojak SS15, located at Subang Jaya. Originally just a food truck and now has moved to a proper shoplot, long queue was often formed in front of the Rojak SS15 when it was operating at the road side. The shop was full that day and there was a constant stream of customer throughout the afternoon.

The dining area and food counters share the same space with simple and less exclusive  setting. There are total of four food counters here and Rojak SS15 is a self service restaurant where the patrons need to order and pay at the food counter, collect their food and find seating to enjoy their meal.

Last but no least, for those who doesn’t fancy the above food, there are other beverages and fried food as well (which I assume these are for the small kids who don’t know how to appreciate Rojak and Cendol).

Coconut Water (RM5.00) & Cendol Campur (Small – RM3.00)

The dessert was loaded with slivers of smooth slippery Cendol, Cincau and red beans, submerged in coconut milk and Gula Melaka flavoured shaved ice. The default sweetness was moderate (but I requested for more Gula Melaka :P) and complemented well the coconut milk shaved ice. There was a mild hint of saltiness (which I tasted from the red beans?) that brilliantly balanced out the overall flavour. My only gripe was the shaved ice could be finer.

Rojak Sotong Telur (RM8.00)

It’s a “messy” plate of salad with a mixture of shredded Jicama (Sengkuang), cucumber, assorted fritters, fried bean curd, crunchy crackers, soft brown squid and hard boiled egg , drenched in a savoury, sweet and spicy peanut sauce. The sauce wasn’t overly thick and I like the crushed peanuts gave the sauce a pleasant nutty flavour as well as the textural contrast.

Verdict: The Cendol and Rojak indeed a perfect combo for your afternoon tea treat. (*❅ω❅*)

  • You look so sporty in the riding boots and helmet! Equestrian sport is an expensive sport. I love this type of Indian rojak. I might have heard my brother mentioning this Rojak SS15. But that area is very congested and hard to find parking. So I don’t think we will visit unless if we happen to pass by.

  • Wah, kudos to this famous SS15 rojak that has expanded to a few branches from a humble rojak truck. I’ve not tried since they open a bit too late for breakfast when I’m in the area.
