The Prestige Hotel @ George Town, Penang
Since the interstate and international travel has resumed starting early this month, I think now is a good timing to blog about my hotel stay of my previous Penang trip which was happened on last year December. ◔_◔
Makan-makan during this trip
Presgrave Street Hawker Center
Taman Emas Kopitiam
Nestled in between the banking district of Beach Street and the Weld Quay area, the 5-star The Prestige Hotel with charming colonial Victorian style facade was accommodation for our 3D2N Penang trip.
Check in & check out was swift and pleasure at its contemporary reception lobby. It boasts a modernized Victorian interior with elegant dome ceiling, circular maze on the floor, floor-to-ceiling glass window with glorious rose gold touches and framed by simple couches in pastel colours.
Welcome drink
Lift lobby showcased the botanical garden through a mirror wall with brass frame.
Print of iconic sites from around Penang is found in the elevator.
Can we all agree that the room corridor at The Prestige is cinematic? Dim with mechanized lights project shadows of intricate lattice patterns on the walkways, with soft music was playing in the background.
Our 30m² Deluxe King room certainly has the feel of spaciousness and there’s enough of room if one need to add an extra bed. Taking on a soothing neutral palette, the room was fully carpeted with furniture in pastel tones and copper accents featured throughout. The room is gracefully accentuated by the trapezoid shaped lines paneling and Victorian wainscoting.
The levitating bed and side tables as well as a bedroom bench. The mattress was a bit firm to me but no fault on this, it’s more of a matter of preference.
An art piece of rose gold metal frame that arches above and across the TV and acted as clothes rack as well. Mini bar, coffee making facilities as well as luggage rack were placed here too.
The laid back corner featured comfortable cushioned chair and stool, right beside a window that takes in ample natural light, completed with thoughtfully chosen snacks and hand sanitizer.
Usual amenities included such as WiFi, TV, minibar with complimentary beverages, Nespresso coffee machine, TWG Tea selection, indoor slippers, bathrobes, ironing facilities and laundry service pack.
The see through glass bathroom cubicle definitely great for lovebirds but there is also curtain to cover up if one need privacy.
The room is appointed with a admirably spacious bathroom, with a modern while retaining the simplistic look. The rose gold detailing and trapezoid shaped lines paneling echoing the design of the room.
It is equipped with rain shower as well as the handheld shower head. I love the strong water pressure, great enjoyment indeed!
The customised toiletries.
Body wash, conditioner & shampoo with natural essential oils.
Toilet is in separate room featuring botanical wallpapers.
For the sake of guest privacy and environmental friendly factor, house keeping is done upon request,
Chill and relax at the garden, anyone?
If you’re staying at The Prestige, don’t attempt to skip a visit to their rooftop swimming pool on the fourth-floor. Featuring a saltwater infinity pool with stunning panoramic view overlooking Church Street Pier. There are substantial pool loungers for hotel guests.
The scenery of sunrise that worthy of postcard! Took this when I wake up early for my workout at the gym.
I also fully utilized their mini gym room for my usual workouts.
The Prestige Hotel’s event venues are named after the lead characters of science-fiction film The Prestige (2006) – Angier and Borden (indoor) as well as Olivia and Julia (outdoor).
Outdoor gazebos as multi-use event spaces.
Hotel’s all-day-dining venue – The Glasshouse restaurant offers a beautiful spot for casual dining. Inspired from the English Victorian conservatory, the interior showcases metal-framed walls and lattice pattern, with lush landscape for al-fresco dining.
The ground floor of The Prestige Hotel houses a few dining and retail outlets such as San Francisco Coffee, a fine dining restaurant gēn 根, clothing store, café and pharmacy.
A restaurant right beside the hotel with eye-catching yellow glass door. (♥ω♥*)
♥Verdict: Location wise, nestled between the banking district of Beach Street and the Weld Quay area, The Prestige Hotel is only minutes away from major historic sites as well as art, culture and dining options along the Heritage Trail of Penang. Instagram-worthy interiors, friendly hospitality and our room was in top-notch condition, spacious and clean. Combining finest in comfort, The Prestige Hotel offers the ultimate affordable luxury amongst the hotels in this area, definitely a good accommodation option if you’re planning a trip to Penang.
