Klonghae Floating Market @ Hatyai

Our itinerary continued after a satisfying Thai food lunch (blog post will be coming up next), we were brought to Klonghae Floating Market which located 20-30 minutes drive from city centre.
This floating market is much more different with the one I’ve been at Bangkok (Damnoen Saduak) where vendors are paddling along congested canals in sturdy canoes with colourful fresh fruits or food and the patrons can either walk on the passage along the canal or rent a boat for traveling along the canal.
Here at Klonghae Floating Market, the first floating market of southern Thailand, all the vendors’ boats lined up along the river banks.
Some of the vendors, majority of them selling the same varieties of food such as mini sushi, noodle, pancakes, fried food and beverages. All these food were reasonably priced at no more than 50 baht each.
One of the most popular item in the floating market ~ Refreshing drinks in clay mug or bamboo .
This drink cost me 50baht if not mistaken and we can bring home the clay mug ^__^
Colourful mung bean Thai dessert.
Wooden tables and chairs equipped with umbrella were provided too.
Here’s some of the food we had and most of them were average tasted and really nothing to shout about 😛
BBQ eggs
Salad
Sushi
Corn
Grilled Banana in Coconut Milk
If the food at the floating market cannot satisfy you, there are more food stalls at the hilly open space next to the river.
After all those stalls, there are a wooden bridge leading to another section near a temple (Wat Klong Hae) with more stalls selling clothes, knick knacks and food.
The wooden bridge
Stalls located right beside Wat Klong Hae.
The Fear Factor! @_@
We saw this cute baby elephant when walking back to our van which parked at parking of Wat Klong Hae. We bought some sugarcane (10 -20baht / bundle) to feed the elephant. We also saw baby elephant outside our hotel when we went back at night.
The owner was kind to offer a ride for Sam. Look at my brave Sam, she was so excited and happy and it was indeed a memorable experience for her! So proud of her as her mommy not even dare to go near the baby elephant (cry and run >.<)
Sis and the tame baby elephant 🙂
