Coconut House @ Jaya One, P.J
First of all, please pardon the poor quality photos in this post as the yellow lighting in the restaurant was killing me ~>_<~
Coconut House (椰子屋), originated from Malacca then branched out to Pudu. It closed down and re-opened in Three Two Square but unfortunately, this branch closed down again. Resumed on business in Taman Desa as Casa del Cocco but due to some unforeseen circumstances, the owner ended his partnership with the shareholders and finally, he re-opened his restaurant at Jaya One. (Phwee….what a grandma long story ^__*)
As aforementioned, this places was dressed in dim yellow light with sturdy wooden tables paired with cushioned and rattan chairs.
Patrons who choose to sit at front part of the shop are able to enjoy the ample natural light flowing in from the huge glass panel windows. The restaurant is cozy and rustic with plenty of wooden elements which are very pleasant at sight.
I love the al-fresco seats at the corridor which surrounded by many potted and hanging plants but my visit on a scorching afternoon not allowed me to enjoy such delightful dining experience, perhaps a revisit for dinner 😛 (This photo was taken on my other visit to Jaya One at night)
The main attraction of Coconut House definitely their wood fire pizza, look at the piles of wood!
The owner, Mr. Zhuang Ruo (庄若) has been a writer and editor in a former life and these are his magazines Coconut House (椰子屋).
Coconut Blended (RM 9.90)
A few of us had this refreshing coconut blended, concoction of fresh coconut water, coconut flesh and vanilla ice cream.
Slow Roasted Pork Shoulder (RM 22.90)
Marinated with Fennel seeds, adeptly cooked overnight in a cooling pizza oven using the remaining heat from the fire. The meat has paid off from the long hours of gentle cooking, tender and fall apart at the prod of the fork.
Seafood Risotto (RM 24.50)
Brimming with clams, squids, prawns and fish fillets, the risotto was well prepared, al-dente and manage to absorb the flavors from the broth.
Pork Herbs Burger (RM 9.90)
The pork burger in set menu came with a choice of drink (Americano/Honey Lemon/Lemon Tea) definitely a steal!
Sandwiched between their house made focaccia, the thick pork patty was juicy and flavorful and what I like most was the meat was not overly minced which gave the patty a great texture! The mozzarella and marinara sauce completing this awesome burger, rendering a sloppy mess, but a fine one at that 😛
Pork Chop with Gorgonzola Sauce (RM 19.90)
The texture of the pork chop was a let down, tough and dry but luckily the saving grace of pungent Gorgonzola sauce complemented the meat fairly well.
Sliced Pork with Rocket (RM 18.90)
Topped sparingly with thin roasted pork slices and rocket leaves, the thin crust pizza was palatable; crunchy, salty and bitter 😛 A great play on flavors!
Traditional Carbonara (RM 24.90)
No white cream was added when preparation of this pasta dish and only egg and Pecorino cheese is used as dressing as per claimed in the menu. The overall pasta was drier than normal carbonara but I can smell a discernible aroma of the cheese. Also hiding within was decent amount of Pancetta and topped with Parmesan cheese, this definitely won’t disappoint the cheese lovers.
Baked Pear with Red Wine (RM 9.90)
Undoubtedly not the most visually appealing dessert I’ve seen but the flavors definitely one of a kind! Slow braised with red wine, vanilla and lemon juice till soft, the pear had a unique taste of sourish with a sweet end note. The accompanied vanilla ice cream also added a nice contrast to the overall experience.
Ricotta Cheese Cake (RM 8.90)
Baked using the wood fire oven, the crust was a bit too dry & crumbly for me.
Verdict: Well, not a complete blast to our sense but good enough for a meal and I like how they prepare the carbonara in an authentic way!

Wah… before i scroll down to look on the dishes, i was thinking this place either offers Japanese food or Thai food… but it turned out to be Western 😡
How you related it to Japanese or Thai food? The name? Coconut? o.O
Casa Del Coco; it was very unfortunate what happened to them as I’ve dined there before and actually love it. All the best to Coconut House !
Pay a visit to Coconut House if you like their food and this place is quite near for you 🙂
Came here once to celebrate friend’s birthday. Food not bad esp their pizza.Hope they won’t close down again~~~
Haha, this is so unpredictable 😛
Last time I accidentally enter tis restaurant. The pizza is quite okay, love the “bricks oven” for pizza!
U like the oven itself or the pizza baked from the oven? Or both? LOL
