This is my CANTEEN 😛

Whenever hubby & I run out of idea where to have dinner, we will usually end up at this “dai chow” restaurant ~ Restoran Wah Tin. This is not a complaint because we enjoy the affordable good food here & it just a stone’s throw away from my house 😛

Occupied two shoplots with indoor equipped with air-conditioner & tables also spread outside the restaurant if you prefer al-fresco dining.

We came here countless times and tried many of their dishes, most of them are decent and above average.

White rice (RM 1.20 / pax)

Claypot Butter Cream Fish Fillet (RM 15.00)

Generous amount of fish fillets drench in luscious creamy butter sauce. Flooded your rice with the sauce, I bet you will gobble down more than one plate of rice!

Fried Nam Yue Ribs (RM 12.00)

The nam yue (fermented beancurd) marinade with the distinctive flavors which make one ask for more. But a minor gripe was the slightly tough texture perhaps a bit overcooked?

Prawn Paste Fried Pork Bell (RM 15.00)

Fried to perfection with crispy outer & the fat layer was simply melt in your mouth. Very delectable indeed!

Pepper Salt Pork Chop (rm 15.00)

Meaty fried pork chop topped with moreish chop garlic, spring onion and ginger.

Steamed Frog with Chicken Essence (RM 40.00)

The frogs here were not as meaty as the one I had at Bukit Tinggi but the flesh was firm, definitely a proof of freshness.

Yam Chicken (RM 15.00)

Came with bubbling hot claypot with mini stove to keep the dish hot while we digging in. I love the thick gravy, savory with hint of yam, went well with your white rice. The chicken were tender and the yam cubes were powdery, so far my favorite dish here!

Salted Fish Pork Belly (RM 20.00)

The caramelized sauce was so robust & full of flavors & they are generous with the salted fish!

Sweet & Sour Pork (RM 12.00)

Decent but not the best, I had tried a better version.

Clams in Superior Soup (RM 12.00)

Fresh clams with sweet, rich and briny flavours. The soup definitely whets the appetite, with a nice kick thanks to the addition of chili padi, shredded ginger and a generous dose of Chinese wine.

Pepper Salt Tofu (RM 10.00)

Silky smooth home made tofu slightly fried then topped with aromatic chopped garlic, spring onion & chili.

Star Light Tofu (RM 10.00)

Tofu with Minced Meat (RM 12.00)

These two tofu dishes were mere generic.

Mui Choy Calsberg Lettuce (RM 10.00)

The addition of mui choy definitely a brilliant idea to make an ordinary blanched vegetables more scrumptious.

Kailan (RM 8.00)

Paku with Belacan (RM 8.00)

Yun Choy in Superior Soup (RM 8.00)

There were century egg & dried shrimps in this!

Kangkung Belacan (RM 8.00)

Verdict: Decent food, no frills & reasonably priced, pay a visit if you happen to be at this area 🙂
