Soi Thai ~ Giveaway!
It has been raining for a few days and the gloomy weather make me craving for some particular food, can you guess what is that? Steamboat? Maybe, but not this time 😛
Hint: Something will make you sweat? Bingo! It’s Thai food, my all time favourite!
Soi Thai, a Thai restaurant located at The Waterfront, Desa Park City which I really want to try out every time I pass by when I do my grocery shopping or bring Sam for a walk at lakeside. Finally I made my visit here a few weeks ago for dinner with a few friends.
Brightly lit space with white tables and colourful chairs. Some small plants prettied up the whole dining area lively.
Some Thai influence decors adorning the restaurant such as the row of elephants ~ one of the essential ornament in a Thai restaurant.
Cute lil ellie~
The monk statue.
Elephant on the cutlery too!
Pandan cooler & Young Coconut – The best beverage to cool down the “heat” 😛
Thai Iced Tea
In beautiful layers of Black Tea, condensed milk and brown sugar served with tall glass.
Green Papaya Salad with Dried Shrimp and Peanuts (RM11.50++)
Our dinner kick started with the appetizing green papaya salad. The julienned green papaya was undoubtedly crunchy and addition of peanuts and dried shrimps gave it an extra savory and nutty flavors.
Soi Thai Appetizer Combo (RM22.00++)
A platter consisted of Thai Fish Cakes, Pandan Leaves Chicken, Crispy Money Bag and Chicken. My favourite would be the Thai fish cakes, the texture was compact and well seasoned with spices.
Soi Thai’s Signature Fire Pot Seafood Tom Yam (RM39.90++ for 4/5persons)
Go to a Thai restaurant and not order a Tom Yum would be sacrilegious! Tom Yum had great flavor but didn’t as spicy as I had expected it to be. I enjoyed immensely the tangy sourness of the broth which make me almost polished off the whole pot >.<
Not to mentioned the more than generous serving of ingredients in the soup like prawns, squids, fish, vegetables and mushrooms.
Thai Red Curry Roasted Duck (RM16.00++)
Thick, creamy and chocked full of brinjals and roasted duck, not too overly hot yet it was sufficiently spicy.
Thai Pandan Leaves Chicken – 4 pieces (RM12.90++)
The chicken meat wrapped in pandan leaves (screwpine) was fragrant and the texture was not mushy like some I’ve tried.
Thai Style Otak Otak (RM17.50++)
This spiced fish paste with some seafood bits steamed in a banana leaf shaped bowl was rich and creamy in texture with a tinge of mild spiciness.
Deep Fried Garoupa with Sweet Thai Chili Sauce (RM39.90++)
Resembled our sweet and sour fish, the garoupa was deep fried to golden brown then drenched in sweet Thai chili sauce.
Choo- Chee Deep Fried Siakap Fish(RM39.90++)
Choo-Chee is something similar with red curry omitted some particular spices but nonetheless still aromatic when it served to our table 😛 The crispy Siakap fish went well with the luscious gravy with refreshing citrus hint from the kaffir lime leave.
Since we were on such a roll with food that night, we treat ourselves to desserts too.
Mango Sticky Rice topped with Coconut Milk (RM11.50++)
Can I say this is “A-Must-Try” dessert when come to Thai food?Definitely YES!
Water Chestnuts and Jackfruits in Coconut Milk (RM8.00++)
Another classic Thai dessert~ The crushed ice come in lovely pinkish colour, I personally love the texture of the red ruby (water chestnut with jelly coating), chewy on the outer while the inner was incredibly crunchy.
PS: Photo courtesy from Fish.
Sweet Tapioca in Coconut Milk (RM8.50++)
The soft sweet tapioca went well with the rich & creamy coconut milk but a tad too sweet 😛
Sweet Pumpkin in Coconut Milk (RM7.00++)
Similar with the above but the sweet potato was substituted with pumpkin.
Coconut and Lemongrass Jelly with Passion Fruit (RM7.00++)
The combination of both jelly was just perfect, The creaminess of the coconut milk has been tuned down by the refreshing lemongrass jelly.
Black Sticky Rice with Coconut Milk (RM10.00++)
The black rice was cooked to perfection, soft yet still retained its chewy nature. Sweetish from the sticky rice matched heavenly with the slightly salty coconut milk.
Steamed Sweet Banana topped with Vanilla Ice Cream (RM8.50++)
Didn’t care much about the banana but I enjoyed the ice-cream immensely ^__*
A sweet conclusion to a splendid Thai dinner.
