Copper Mansion @ Section 51A, P.J (Revisit)

We were back to Copper Mansion after a delightful Dim Sum breakfast one year ago. This round was for celebration of my niece 3rd birthday and my sis booked a private room for lunch with the family. The private room can accommodate 15 pax and is attached with a washroom.

Jelly Fish with Scallion Oil (RM15.00)

Other than this appetizer, we also had Crispy Prawn Cracker (RM10/portion)

Dragon Grouper (RM297.00)

The big grouper fish was cooked ala Teowchew style and served in a covered stainless steel round pan with stove underneath. The fish was half cooked when served on our table and we had to wait for several minutes for it to be fully cooked.

The fish was partially submerged in an appetizing broth brought about by the sourness of the salted vegetables. The fish was meaty but the texture was a bit firm for my liking. There were bean curd cubes, pork slivers, salted vegetables, mushrooms, red chilies and coriander as well.

Home Style Stuffed Brinjal (L-RM60.00)

Arrived bubbling hot in a stone pot, this elevated version of Yong Tau Foo was awesomely tasty with bursting flavours. The tender pieces of brinjals were generously stuffed with well marinated minced meat filling (with pronounced salted fish flavours), then continue to be cooked in savoury sauce. This dish left a lasting impression and was my favourite dish of that afternoon.

Sweet & Sour Pork (L-RM60.00)

For the kids (✧ω✧) Decent with good crispy pork pieces lightly coated with sweet and sour sauce. I like rendition like this because it was not overly flooded with sauce.

Roasted Chicken with Crispy Almond (Whole-RM98.00)

It was the crunchy almonds and garlic bits that took this ordinary roasted chicken to a whole other level, wickedly good! The roasted chicken itself was rather bland in flavour, but luckily the flavourful toppings came as the saving grace.

Baby Bak Choy in Fish Broth (L-RM60.00)

The fish broth was rather mild in taste and it was nothing spectacularly memorable on this dish.

Kailan with Yam (L-RM60.00)

The most ” unpopular” dish of that day (ノω^、) due to the odd pairing of yam and vegetables. I’m totally okay with it since I like yam and I think it’s a good change for an usual stir fried vegetable.

Honey Roasted BBQ Pork (L-RM56.00)

We got a quite a fatty portion which I’m not really fancy but the Char Siew was rather welcoming on the palate. It was basted with sweet savoury sauce, nicely infused with pleasant smoky taste.

Osmanthus Cake (RM13.80)

Lotus Paste Pancakes (RM15.00)

Chilled Mango with Sago & Pomelo (RM12.00)

Chilled Red Dates Longan with Peach Gum (RM12.00)

Titbits (RM6.00), Chinese Tea (RM5.00/pax) & Rice (RM2.00)

♥Verdict: I can’t say this was a memorable lunch considering the food was very much a hits and misses affair. But that day’s gathering was all about the precious family bonding time.

  • For a steamed fish that costs close to RM300, I’d expect the fish to be soft, flaky & very tasty. The only possibility I can offer when you say the flesh is firm is that is was not cooked all the way through? >.< I think my family would love that tasty-looking char siew. The dishes here seem rather expensive, even simple dishes like vegetables and sweet & pork (portion looks smallish!) can cost RM60…oh dear….so, thankfully it was a treat…haha! For a meal that cost probably around RM1k to be not memorable is truly yikes!

  • Kris, I must admit that the portion was rather small for the price charged but I think the cost is included the comfy environment and “posh” setting.
