Epicuro @ Damansara Uptown, PJ
Restaurants with porcine menu always manage to intrigue my interest, Epicuro is one of my recent hunt. I remember I’ve already started my porky restaurants hunting when they are not so common a few years back. With numerous of porky restaurants popping up recent years, can I say they are less “precious” now? But fan of swine like me & hubby still will go gaga over the opening of new porcine joint.
Nestled at one of the F&B hub of Damansara Utama (Damansara Uptown), Epicuro located at a fairly strategic location of facing the LDP Highway which can be easily seen.
The interior of the Epicuro is not too big, but the neatly arranged wooden tables and bright yellow metal chairs successfully created a cheerful vibe for dining.
Painted in black with cute chalk drawings on the wall, the restaurant is blessed with ample of natural light from the huge windows. I must say I like the simple yet contemporary layout. The only gripe was the tables are placed a little too close for comfort.
Ice Lemon Tea (RM 4.90)
Super Fruit Tea (RM 9.00)
Coffee Latte (RM 10.00)
Ding ding, food ready to be served! The alphabet ‘O’ actually is a window connected to the kitchen, cute right? ^__^
Walnut & Almonds Salad (RM 14.90+)
A magnificent mix of crisp lettuce, glazed walnut, toasted almond, tomatoes and croutons dressed in a lightly sweet red wine viniagrette topped with grated cheese.
Pork Chop (RM 28.90)
Two huge slabs of boned-on pork chops have been brined then grilled, rendering the tender and moist texture. Smothered with creamy mushroom sauce and accompanied with side of mashed potato with bacon bits and some fresh greens. The portion undoubtedly can please the carnivore’s craving!
Spaghetti Carbonara (RM 18.90)
Picture says a thousand words! It’s food porn in all its glory when a gentle prick was made to the egg yolk topped on my Spaghetti Carbonara. Al-dente pasta, luscious cream sauce, savory bacon bits, and the perfectly cooked poached egg, a five-star combination that no one can say ‘NO’! Make sure you savor this fast while it is still hot as it tend to be quite cloying when the pasta getting cold.
Crispy Chicken & Slaw (RM 18.90)
Not a porcine lover? Fret not, there are chicken, fish and lamb dishes in the menu too.
The deep fried breaded chicken breast was a tad too dry for our liking and luckily the served along marinara sauce provided an adequate moist to the meat. I love the fries, super crunchy and flavorful!
Verdict: The cafe has got all my checkmarks of a great place to dine in terms of food and service. There are a few dishes in the menu that I wish to try out such as Conchiglie in Spinach Cream & Pulled Pork Sandwich that highly recommended by others. Wait for me, I’ll come to you soon!
