Lost World of Tambun @ Ipoh, Perak- Hot Springs & Spa By Night

I believe many of you have heard of Lost World of Tambun, a theme park located at Sunway City Ipoh, Perak. But I think not many of you know that there is a Hot Springs & Spa which operate from 6.00pm to 11.00pm apart from the other parks namely Water Park, Amusement Park, Tiger Valley, Tin Valley, Adventure Park and Petting Zoo.

Lost World of Tambun – entrance

Car park space is ample right at the entrance with a charges of RM2 per entry and the Lost World Hotel is located opposite it. Other option of accommodation, you may check out HERE.

Sam was pretty excited to experience her first night hot spring dip.

Park map – The 40-acre park is surrounded lush tropical jungle, natural hot springs, and spectacular limestone features of 400 million years of age. Houses total of seven attraction parks which include natural hot springs coupled with an array of attractions and rides.

Ipoh Street that features variety of local street food, snacks and desserts. FYI, no outside food is allowed in the park, include drinking water.

Locker rental is available and charged according to size of the locker. We got the small locker at RM15 which is just nice to keep Sam’s bag, a tote bag and hubby’s sling backpack but the charges is ridiculously expensive. (medium locker @ RM20 & large locker @ RM35)

Our Hot Springs & Spa By Night ticket is included entry to the Petting Zoo – Home for a selection of domestic and wild animals in animal nature environment.

Tin Valley – Tin mining is one of the oldest industries in Malaya and Ipoh. Visitors can experience “Dulang Washing”(Tin Ore Panning) just like the good old days with the life-sized palung (sluice box) and an original gravel pump monitor. Visitors can also learn about the history of tin mining and see real artifacts from the past at the Galleria.

Visitors can climb onto the back of these life-sized stone elephants for photo shoot and  enjoy a birds eye view of the Lost World Tin Valley. Elephants were the only mode of transporting the tin ore to the depot.

Dulang Tea House – Serves locally roasted coffee, toasted bread with half boiled eggs and other savoury treats which are some favourites that tin workers in days of old used to enjoy.

Sandy Bay – Part of the Lost World Water Park

When the night approached we left the petting zoo and changed into our swim suit. Time to dip ourselves into the mineral hot spring. The 1.8 acres Lost World Hot Springs and Spa is divided into a few area such as Infinity Pool, Lost World Steam Cave, Foot Spa, Crystal Spa, Top of the World Pool, The Geyser of Tambun and Crystal Pool. The water in the hot springs comes from Tambun and is then channelled out to the nearby Kopisan River. Temperatures vary between the pools (from 40°C to 45°C) allowing you to find the perfect one to relax and soak in.

Saphira’s Lair – A pool specially created for children with luminous and colorful neon light. This place was crowded, both kids and adults. It’s too crowded for my comfort so we walk a bit further into next area.

The Crystal Falls

There is flaming percussion and fire eaters performance at 7.45pm everyday, unfortunately we missed it!

We’ve tried jacuzzi pools of Amethyst, Topaz and Sapphire with different temperatures. Other attractions such as Steam Cave which acts as a sauna,Top Of The World Pool and Crystal Spa which offers aromatherapy and head & shoulder massage in private massage hut. 

Foot Spa – Sam & I couldn’t stand the pain of walking on the reflexology pebbles, LOL

Emerald Lagoon – The pool is nicely tiled in emerald blue with astonishing lighting and the temperature of the water is mild and soothing. Sam & hubby spent almost 2 hours soaked and “swam” in this pool. Why only Sam and hubby you may ask. Because I felt dizzy after a few dips in the hot jacuzzi pools so I took a rest at side.

I hope they can enforce strictly the swimming attire rules in the wet park. There are signboards indicating the right attire which is swimming suits, but a lot of people ignore that and gets away with it. Another grumble was the cleanliness of the hot spring water. As you can see from my photo, the water was cloudy and to be honest I really felt uncomfortable with it. I’m not sure if hot spring water should look like this? Is the cloudiness caused by the natural minerals or the number of people using the pool? Anyone can enlighten me on this?

There are private huts surrounding the pool which you can rent for a fee.

Maybe this place can include in your planning for this coming March school holiday, a 2D1N short getaway sound perfect! 1st day: Food hunting , temple visit or Qing Xin Ling Leisure & Culture Village then go to Hot Springs & Spa By Night. 2nd day: continue food hunting before heading back to home.

Verdict: We like the Petting Zoo and the surrounded natural environment. The hot spring, Sam and hubby had an enjoyable time but definitely not include me >_< Hopefully they can improve the enforcement of the dress code rules as well as the cleanliness of the pool water (if it really caused by lack of maintenance)
