Taipei Walker @ Plaza Arkadia, Desa Park City
As mentioned in my previous restaurant visit at Plaza Arkadia, Desa Park City, I like this commercial area so we were caught loitering here to search for lunch.
We passed by Taipei Walker and after reading their menu placed at the entrance, we decided to dine in here. The interior of this dark wooden themed restaurant was really dim in yellowish hue. There were a long stretch of seats against the wall and partitioned “banquette seats” on the other side.
Taipei Golden Special Hot Coffee (RM5.90) & Dragonfruit Juice (RM7.90)
They have a really extensive beverage list which covered basically everything from coffee, chocolate drinks, milk teas, teas, flower teas, fruit juices, drinks with pearls (Boba) and soda drinks.
Also be spoilt for choice from the wide variety of food in the menu featuring all essential Taiwanese street food, rice dishes, noodles, soups, as well as desserts such shaved ice, dessert sweet soup (Tong Sui), pastries and jellies. The menu is pretty much like the Fong Lye Taiwan Cuisine but the price is more affordable.
Wen Zhou Wonton Soup (RM8.90)
There were 6 or 7 wontons (can’t remember the exact amount ╥﹏╥) served in soup garnished with some shredded omelet, seaweed and spring onion. The wontons were adequately filled with minced meat and prawn filling which was rather delicious.
Deep Fried Pork Rib Set (RM19.90)
This set comprised of main dish, braised minced pork rice, appetizers and boiled soup.
There were many choices of rice/noodle with dish set meals in the menu such as Taiwanese signature three cup chicken, fried pork rib, fried chicken chop, braised beef, spicy Malat hotpot, beef noodles and many more.
The fried pork rib was arrived pipping hot and perfectly cooked. The outer was deep fried to a golden finish with slightly crunchy outer and the meat was tender and nicely marinated.
Instead of white rice, I certainly appreciated the serving of Taiwanese classic braised minced pork rice (Lu Rou Fan). The braised pork was tasty but I would have hoped a bit more sauce for this. The boiled soup was rather good also, we had chicken soup that day. The appetizers of braised egg, bean curd and mixed vegetables were mediocre though.
Cordia dichotoma Steamed Fish Fillet Set (RM20.90)
Came with same appetizers and braised minced pork rice, my fish fillet was a bit shabby. The fish fillets was served in a mini wok with flame underneath. Steamed with pineaaple and Cordia dichotoma fruit or known as Poh Bu Zhi (破布子) in Mandarin which is a type of pickled fruit from Cordia dichotoma tree. From the ingredients, you will know that the broth was sour but it didn’t provide the appetizing tang that can whet my appetite. The fish fillets were those store bought dory fish which was disgustingly soft and slightly rancid in flavor. Drenched in sour broth make the fish even tasted worse. ( ̄x ̄;)
Verdict: Overall it was a decent dining experience with friendly service and comfortable environment. Hits and misses on the food but I’d probably will revisit to further the menu since there are still many food I would like to try.

Now you know what not to order here. I am always disappointed when I see dory fish on the menu and my partner turns his nose up at this.
I don’t eat a lot of Taiwanese food…but I do like Fong Lye, so the meal experience here should be somewhat similar I’m assuming 🙂
Why is the mango juice red? Is it red mango?
Merryn, oppss… should be dragonfruit, amended. 😛
Haha okay. I super love dragonfruit and dragonfruit juice esp those red ones 😀
Not a bad place to go it seems.. so long as dory is avoided 😀
KY, hopefully not all the fish fillet dishes are bad 😛
I must visit this place as I do like Taiwanese food and drinks for a nice change!
TM, that’s good to visit new places or try new food once a while to bring a little excitement to life ^__^
ooo, their branch in kuchai lama is closer to me, but i haven’t tried yet 🙂
Sean, hope you have chance to try it one day 🙂
Ohh dear..the fish dish sounds so disappointing.
The pork rib set looks nice. So far I’ve only tried Taiwan food from Fong Lye & Taiwan Shilin Snack. LOL
Mel, actually there are not many choices for Taiwanese food at Malaysia hor…. =.=”
