Village Park Restaurant @ Damansara Uptown
Me most probably the only person among all the food bloggers who have yet give this well known and popular Nasi Lemak a try. Blame the perpetually packed and crowded restaurant as well as the waiting queue. I also saw people willing to dine in the canopies under scorching weather, sorry I can’t >_<
Finally until last Saturday, I was here for lunch and this place was brimming with a robust lunch crowd. The place was buzzing with activities, diners busy tucking in, servers were running in and out, patrons queued for ordering and paying. Being a first timer (both hubby and I), we were not sure what’s the “procedures” to dine in here. No empty table at sight(of course lah =.=’) although they are occupying 2 shops and having tables spanning over the walkway of 2-3 shops. But hubby managed to get an empty table at indoor within 5 minutes (lucky?) and got our order done in swift.
Despite the massive crowd, their service was surprisingly fast and friendly which is really worth the compliment.
Plates of Nasi Lemak being churned out rapidly and I was truly impressed by the speed of the worker chopping up the fried chickens as well as how a full basket of fried chicken finished in a jiffy and immediately being replenished.
Iced Nescafe (RM3.90), Syrup (RM2.60) & Syrup Bandung (RM3.30)
Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng (RM10.40)
3 of us got the simplest Nasi Lemak combination of Nasi Lemak + fried chicken. You may have Chicken Rendang, Beef Rendang, Curry Squid, Cockles, Prawns and Lamb to go with your Nasi Lemak as well.
Portion wise, the Nasi Lemak came with a huge piece of fried chicken which pretty justified the money paid. The rice is crucial for a good Nasi Lemak and Village Park’s version doesn’t disappointed. Fluffy, separated grains with discernible Santan (coconut milk) and Pandan Leaves (Screwpine) aroma and flavors, not too overwhelming, just nice. The Sambal was equally good, fragrant and well balanced flavours of spiciness and sweetness. (Additional Sambal – RM0.80)
Took center stage definitely this tempting piece of meaty fried chicken. Freshly fried with perfect golden crispy skin with succulent and moist meat. The spiced battered skin was well flavoured and awesomely tasty. This certainly made the cholesterol gained worth it 😛
Even Sam said that no wonder this place is so packed, the fried chicken is so so so good! ^___^
These crunchy bits which I think is another essential element that make this a memorably wonderful plate of Nasi Lemak.
Other than Nasi Lemak, they also offer other dishes such as Lontong. Chee Cheong Fun, Nasi Dagang, Penang Prawn Mee, Singapore Mee Rebus, Soto Ayam & etc.
Verdict: For that enticing piece of fried chicken, the queue is definitely acceptable!

You make me want to eat that nasi lemak again (it’s been a while). Their fried chicken is undeniably good taking first place over the rice and sambal for me. In the Nasi Lemak Food Wars Asia challenge, I can understand why Nasi Lemak Tanglin won. It’s because their rice and sambal were better (it wasn’t a fried chicken challenge after all)! 😉
Kris, I’m not even know about this Nasi Lemak Food Wars Asia challenge =.=” btw I never try Tanglin before. Actually I’m not really fussy about the sambal and nasi, as long as they tasted acceptable and tasted how they should be tasted like, I’m ok.
I am shocked that you had never eaten this earlier with all kinds of excuses. LOL
I have eaten there plenty times esp when visitors are in KL. They all requested to eat the same Nasi Lemak that Tun M had dined under the canopy & 5 foot ways.
I took my fussy Malay colleague there and he swore that was the best Nasi lemak he had ever eaten in his life and even real Malays could not cook such a tasty authentic Nasi Lemak. Whatever la….
TM, haha, don’t be so shocked, I definitely do not manage to try all those “famous” eateries considering the chances I go out for food hunt as well as the budget issue (sometimes), right? LOL
If not mistaken, the boss here is a Chinese but not sure about the the recipe using is from Malay or what lah, hehe 😛
Finally, huh? This place is practically packed all the time and I actually given up eating there. I love the ayam goreng with nasi lemak.
PH, yes, finally~~~ Actually I never intended to try this place, but hubby dragged me go, so I follow lor, haha!
