I Cook: Braised Pork & Egg (Non-Halal)
Since I start cooking, dishes that appear frequently on my dining table definitely are braised meat (both chicken and pork) because they are so easy to prepare and go really well with rice.
Ingredients
Pork belly (600g)
Garlic (6 cloves)
Spring onion (2 stalks)
Ginger (1 small piece) ~ optional
Water (1500 CC)
Soy sauce (1 tablespoon)
Dark soy sauce (1/2 tablespoon)
Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
Sugar (1 teaspoon)
Cooking oil (1/2 tablespoon)
Rice wine (1 tablespoon)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: Cut pork belly into roughly 1 inch thick.
Step 2: Cook a pot of water, add in the pork belly and bring to boil for a minute or two. Remove the pork and set aside. (This step is to remove the blood water of the pork)
Step 3: Heat some cooking oil on a frying pan, add in garlic, spring onion and ginger then cook until fragrant. Pour all the ingredients into a pot and add in water, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, rice wine, sugar, salt and pork belly (step 2). Cook with high heat till boil then turn to small heat simmer for 40-50 minutes or until the gravy is thicken. Taste and add salt if necessary.
Optional:-
I add in hard boiled egg for a more wholesome dish, put in at step 3 too.
Hubby & I love to drench our rice with the gravy, oh Gosh here gone my diet plan ~>_<~
Nice…. but I would prefer to have more gravy.
One bowl of rice over here pls! 😉
I love more gravy too but I overlooked it when braising, the gravy dried up 😛
I like this kind of braised dish too… good with rice! Yum 🙂
Easy to prepare too, right? ^_^
Make sure cook a big pot of rice too!
Hubby and Sam not a rice lover and I normally skip carbo when dinner so no need extra rice 😛
M Y F A V O U R I T E ! ! !
aiyoh, i just love this dish so much, especially the (lean) pork and egg!! i don’t usually eat rice at home, but whenever there is this dish, i cannot resist to eat a bowl of rice, because the gravy is too good to go with rice already!! only the gravy i can wallop the rice, no need anything else~~ and yes, there goes the diet plan!! haha~~
Yalor, normally I’ll skip rice when dinner but when dish this out, I’ll eat a little rice to go with the gravy ~.~
超好下饭的!我可以吃下两碗饭!(前提是没有减肥的时候~)
我通常晚餐不吃饭的都会吃一点点配那个汁 ^__*
