Yen Can Cook: Extra Hot Korean Fried Chicken
Korean fried chicken, a dish that gain its fame and popularity from a scene of Korean drama “You Who Came From The Stars” (来自星星的你) where the main actress Cheon Song-yi mentioned about having fried chicken and beer when the first snow comes.
Korean fried chicken definitely not your typical American fried chicken. Small or medium-sized chicken, in other words, younger chickens Korean fried is used for a more tender meat result. The chicken is usually coated with a thin layer of sauce such as honey or red pepper chili after being fried.
In this festive season, I think Korean fried chicken is quite suitable to be served in gatherings or parties. So let’s check my EXTRA HOT version!
Ingredients
4 chicken drumsticks
4 cloves of garlic
4pcs of sliced ginger
30ml soy sauce
40g Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
1 teaspoon Lingham Extra Hot Chili Sauce
1 tablespoon rice vineger
100g honey
50g plain flour
1 tablespoon cornflour
80ml water
Oil
Sesame seeds (optional)

Step 1: Clean and wipe the chicken drumsticks with paper towels or a cloth to remove excess water.

Step 2: Place plain flour, cornflour and water in a bowl, whisk until smooth. Coat the chicken in batter then carefully deep fried till golden brown or fully cooked. Set aside.
Step 3: Finely chop the garlic and ginger, set aside.
Step 4: Mix the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, Gochujang, rice vineger, honey and Lingham Extra Hot Chili Sauce.
Step 5: Heat 1/2 tablespoon oil in a frying pan, add in sauce mixture (step 4). Simmer for 1 minute then add in the fried chicken (step 2). Carefully stir to coat the chicken in sauce evenly. Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve.

Less spicy? No problem, just use milder version of Lingham Chili Sauce, hehe ^__*
