Yen Can Cook: Crispy Seaweed Popiah Skin
This is the only Chinese New Year snack I made this year was this easy-peasy Crispy Seaweed Popiah Skin that you could whip up in no time. I’ve referred to some recipes online and most of them are frying version which really a no no for me! So I decided to let my oven do the job instead. It’s definitely not too late to make your CNY snacks as only 3 ingredients are needed for this recipe!
Ingredients

Popiah skin

Seaweed sheets (those for wrapping sushi rolls)
Egg
Salt
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: Put salt into egg and whisk briefly to combine.
Step 2: Pull apart a sheet of popiah skin. Brush sheet with egg.
Step 3: Add a piece of seaweed on top of wet popiah skin. Make sure they are completely adhered.
Step 4: Cut sheet into your desired size or shape. Arrange them on lined baking tray.
Step 5: Preheat oven at 150°C and bake for 10 – 15 minutes depends on your oven’s temperature.
Step 6: Remove from oven and let cool before store into airtight container.
No traces of oil but still as crispy, I can savor this without any guilty!
HAPPY BAKING & GONG XI FA CAI
Ya, no oil at all as I didn’t use any oil for the recipe ^__^
nice!
Thanks dear. Do you make any CNY snack this year?
Like you, I tend to focus on making just one snack for CNY each year…and this year the one I made was baked too. Hey, I like your baked version of this…it still looks super crispy! By the way, do you put it on the baking tray with the seaweed facing up?
I was too lazy this year, haha! I put the seaweed facing down as it is easily burn.
a creative way to combine popiah skin and seaweed! well done! 😀
I learn from others too 😛
