Senya Dining @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre
Finally I’ve made my visit to Senya Dining after drooling at the photos of the pork don over and over again on social medias.

Senya Dining is one of the a few restaurants that houses at Isetan Eat Paradise, 1 Utama. The menu isn’t exceptionally extensive but it hits many essentials Japanese dishes such as sushi, sashimi, rice bowls, udon and salads.

The setting of the restaurant is simple and easy going. Furnished with wooden tables and chic transparent chairs, the place is rather small which can only accommodate up to 30+ persons.

Green Tea (RM 2.00)

Edamame (RM 3.80)

Hokkaido Pork Don – Original (RM 22.00)
Ordering was swift because I came with a purpose, to try their signature Hokkaido Pork Don! It was a huge bowl of white rice speckled with grilled pork slices, miso soup, pickles and dipping sauce. There are add-on options for a more wholesome meal such as Ajitama Egg and potato salad.

Brimming with anticipation, the grilled pork was certainly hit the spot. The beautifully grilled pork slices gleaming in a deep mahogany colour were arranged neatly on bed of rice. With right ratio of fats and lean meat, the pork slices were coated with special sweet and sticky sauce concoction then grilled to a smoky, sweet and silken perfection with a slight crisp on edges. I was consoled by this in pure contentment and feel an overwhelming urge to indulge it again.

Unagi Egg Don (RM 33.80)

Hubby’ s choice of Unagi don was equally scrumptious and had a flair of its own. Placed on bed of Japanese rice and fluffy omelet, that big slab of eel is nicely grilled to smokey caramelized. It was tender and full of umami flavor and drizzle of Kabayaki sauce provided a pleasant mellow sweetness to the fish.

Chicken Karaage (RM 12.80)
These big chunks of Japanese battered boneless fried chicken was well infused with moreish garlicky salty marinade. The pieces of Chicken Karaage were crispy on the outside and beautifully juicy inside. A squeeze of lemon brightened up the flavours, and a side of mayo is also served for those who love a creamy finish.
Verdict: A fabulous lunch although the prices might be on higher side. Not really a place we go to often but definitely don’t mind to visit again in the future.

Now you have me drooling over the pork don! ^_* I actually think the prices here are rather reasonable…especially that unagi don (which I sometimes have to pay over RM50 at other places).
no need drooling, make it happen!
I agree with u, the unagi actually quite reasonably priced, the portion was very satisfying.
now i’m also drooling at your pork don pics … it’s so well-covered with the slices of pork! 😀
I pass by last wekend and the restaurant is under renovation now, have to wait awhile only can indulge it again 😛 Otherwise need to go to other outlets 🙂
