Cheng Ho Court Chinese New Year 2012 Menu
Shall we proceed to my fourth Lou Sang of my Lou Sang Marathon? This time my expedition brought me to Cheng Ho Court @ Mines Wellness Hotel which always been known as one of the outstanding restaurant serving healthy Cantonese by using the freshest ingredients!
Salmon Lou Sang
The condiments.
Salmon slices.
As usual, dinner started with the customary Salmon Yee Sang. The blend of colours from various shredded vegetables made the platter look very attractive and almost too nice to be eaten.
Yee Sang selection available here: Abalone Yee Sang, Salmon & Snow Pear Loh Sang, Salmon Loh Sang, Seaweed and Baby Octopus Loh Sang and Jellyfish Loh Sang.
Braised Assorted Dried Seafood Soup with Crabmeat
Normally I will pass the sharkfin soup but this time they were thoughtful enough to prepare a bowl of soup without the sharkfin. The broth was thick and and flavourful, with plenty of crab meat and dried scallop found within. It was hearty and wholesome, especially with a dash of vinegar.
Deep Fried Chicken with Plum Sauce
Deep Fried Red Snapper Fish with Vinegar Sauce
Fish or “Yu” in Chinese represents Abundance, and hence is a must in almost all Chinese New Year menu. The fish was deep fried till crispy on the outer while the inner still remain the softness of the flesh. The vineger sauce was something new to me, appetizing yet have just the right balance of sweet & sour.
Baked Tiger Prawn with Special Chef Sauce
Baked prawns in golden hue topped with chooped garlic, ginger & chili. Very garlicky, had the strong flavor & aroma that we, Malaysian taste buds are fond of.
Stir Fried Vegetables with Almond Flakes
Lotus root, asparagus, celery and carrot perfectly stir fried, all retained the crunchiness of the vegetables. The addition of almond flakes gave it a nice nutty taste but…the overdose of chopped garlic make me & Fish scowling >.<
Claypot Rice with Preserved Meat
Very aromatic & mouth-watering indeed when this served on our table but to my disappointment the rice was a tad too salty perhaps from the waxed duck.
Chilled Sea Coconut with Longan and Lemon
Refreshing with citrus tang of lemon.
Sweet Fancy Duets
I personally prefer the deep fried nian gao which had crispy batter and the soft and gooey nian gao enveloped between the powdery yam.
Prices range from RM788.00++, RM888.00++, RM1,088.00++ and RM1,588.00++ per table of ten respectively. The promotion is valid from now until 1st January till 7th February 2012.
