Subak Bali Agro & Random Photos @ Bali
Ok, my Bali travelogue is finally coming to an end, this is going to be the last post and I’ve completed it within 6 months! (ง •̀ω•́)ง✧ (Definitely a good improvement if compared to my previous Taiwan travelogue ꈍ .̮ ꈍ )
After the visit of Ulun Danu Beratan Temple at Bedugul, we accepted our driver’s suggestion to visit a nearby coffee farm. We were brought to Subak Bali Agro at somewhere in Bedugul (´・_・`) and I found that there are a few similar coffee farms at that area.
Coffee cherries
Coffee beans aren’t the only thing growing here, there’s also an abundance of fruit and spices such as the cocoa tree as above. We also saw pineapple, banana, pepper, lemongrass, lime and many more. This unexpected visit definitely an eye-opener for city kid like Sam to see the “real plant” of the fruits or vegetables she has daily. We were guided by a staff and she told us about the flora and fauna that can be found in the farm.
We also had chance to see the Luwak (Asian palm civet or toddt cat) and the coffee bean of the Kopi Luwak. Those are actually partially digested coffee cherries eaten by the civets and the beans remain inside their stomach. Fermenting occurs as the cherries pass through a civet’s intestines. After being defecated, those beans are collected, washed, sun-dried, lightly roasted, and crushed into fine coffee grounds. It has been called one of the most expensive coffees in the world with retail prices reaching US$700 per kilogram!
The coffee bean was being manually roasted and ground.
The farm has a few photography spots for visitors to take photos.
Mini version of Bali Swing (^∀^)
If the mini Bali Swing still too adventurous for you, try this kid’s version swing then. LOL
After the mini farm tour, we were brought to one of these huts which scattered around the farm to sample some coffees and teas.
There are various types of coffee and tea powder on the table to let us to try out. Bali Coffee, Chocolate Coffee, Vanilla Coffee, Ginseng Coffee, Coconut Coffee, Cinnamon Coffee, Ginger Coffee, Mangosteen Tea, Rosella Tea, Ginseng Tea, Cinnamon Tea, Ginger tea and Lemongrass Tea, all these are free of charge but if you want to have a taste of that “cat-poo-chino” (Kopi Luwak), IDR 60K is charged per cup.
The coffee plantation tour ended at their shop, where we could buy coffee powder, chocolate and other drinks and products made of spices from their plantation like perfumes, body lotion, soaps, massage oil, and etc. But we were not forced to buy anything from the shop.

Below are some random photos that I took at Seminyak during our first night at Bali.
The happening Jalan Kayu Aya at Seminyak is spilling with numerous restaurants, bars, hotels, massage parlours, souvenir shops and fashion boutiques. The street is bustling with loud musics, chatters and laughter, lively performances and honks of the cars and motorbikes. The area is known for its upmarket lifestyle so the shops and eateries here are generally classier – and pricier. There are two shopping malls at the end of the street – Seminyak Village and Seminyak Square.
Grilled corn from street vendor, bargaining is compulsory for all the street vendors here include food! (;一ω一||)

Ohh.. that’s how the unprocessed kopi luwak looks like >.< So you did not try? I am quite curious lah what is so special about the taste. LOL!
PH, I don’t drink coffee lah, hehe 😛 But I think the Kopi Luwak must have some unique tastes which make it can be sold at such a high price.
去了巴厘岛那么多次,我都没有去参观过咖啡园。
Imo Teo, 我估计你应该会再去巴厘岛吧嘻嘻 (^v^)
I dare not drink Luwak tea simply because I know where it came from. Haha.
Merryn, _(´ཀ`」 ∠)_
the mini bali swing looks fun – a nice way to enjoy the surroundings of nature 😀
Sean, I’m regret I didn’t try to sit on it ~>_<~
