isenbin

What is better than having a cooling dessert to fight the scorching hot sun!

Last week when hubby & I loitering around SS2 area I discovered a relatively new Taiwanese dessert restaurant – isenbin (爱鲜冰), literally means “Love Fresh Ice”.

I guess your reaction to those mushrooming Taiwanese dessert houses must be, “Aiyo, just some copy cat”, “Another one?” bla bla bla…… Me too, thinking of what so special about this isenbin? After I tried it, I have a conclusion, they do have some hidden gem to lure me for more visits, wanna know? Read on!

Isenbin’s desserts ~ Original recipe from Taiwan.

The interior setting was simple with round tables & stools and murals of mouth-watering dessert. I definitely adore the spacious area if compare to Snowflake with tables cramped within  the shop >.<

Step by step ordering.

We, a group of 13 people ordered a few drinks from their quite extensive beverage menu from isenbin signature covermilk drinks,  various ice tea, honey tea & milk tea.

PS: Covermilk is a type of special processed milk using isenbin secret recipe, tasted slightly salty.

isenbin Covermilk Fresh Tea (RM 5.90)

isenbin Covermilk Black Tea (RM 5.90)

isenbin Covermilk Winter Melon Tea (RM 5.90)

Ice Blended Match Red Bean (RM 5.90)

isenbin Enriched Chocolate (RM 5.90)

A jiffy after our drinks was served, the ice desserts arrived. The huge bowls of dessert brimmed with ingredients manage to attract our attention immediately.

Grass Jelly Ice Green Bean, Barley and Oee (RM6.50)

Soya Ice Series Matcha Oee, Red Bean and Glutinous Rice (RM6.50)

Regular Grass Jelly with Red Bean, Lotus Seed and Oee (RM6.50)

Nuttobin with Matcha Oee, Peanuts and Pearls (RM6.90)

Overall the those icy bowls tasted wise and what I like was the bigger size oee and they never skimp on ingredients! All the ingredients are freshly made and they don’t keep it overnight. My friend  complaint that the ice was a bit coarse but I’m fine with it. 😛

Lemon Jade Jelly (RM5.50)

This is so refreshing with the bright citrus tang of lemon; the only gripe was a tad too sweet to most of ours’ liking =.=”

Oee Douhua (RM5.50)

The only hot dessert we ordered. I love the combination of all the ingredients playing different roles of textures but I could be better if the douhua (beancurd) is more smoother.

Other than dessert, isenbin also serve rice and noodle and to my surprise they are  actually quite delicious!

Ramen Noodle Soup (RM 8.90)

The ramen was springy and nicely cooked, served in clear soup with chicken meat, halved boiled egg and vegetables.

Spicy Ramen Noodle Soup (RM 8.90)

Don’t be deceive by the clear appearance of the soup, one sip and you will feel the peppery hot sensation!

Braised Beef Ramen(RM 8.90)

This beef ramen definitely passed with flying colours! The soup was amazingly tantalizing with heady & glorious taste. We enjoyed immensely and had most of us nodding away in agreement the most hidden gem here!

Verdict: There were hits & misses, I will definitely come back for the beef ramen and the chewy huge oee!
