Yen Can Cook ~ Steamed Pork Ribs with Canned Fried Dace

It’s another recipe to be added into my Jazz-up-your-canned-food recipe list!

Except the usual meat marinade ingredients, I also put the blended fried dace and salted black bean to enhance the flavour of the marinade.

Ingredients (Serve: 3-4)

400g pork ribs

1 canned fried dace

Chopped spring onion for garnishing (optional)

Marinade (Blend)

2 cloves of garlic

1/2 thumb-sized ginger

1 chili (optional)

Marinade

1/2 tablespoon cooking wine

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon corn flour

Pinch of salt & pepper

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: Clean the pork ribs then scald in boiling water to remove blood and impurities. Rinse, drain and pat dry, set aside.
Step 2: Open the canned fried dace, take out 1 pieces of fried dace and 1/2 tablespoon of salted black bean. Together with garlic, ginger and chili, blend into a coarse texture paste.
Step 3: In a bowl mix all the marinade ingredients and blended paste (Step 2),  add pork ribs and mix well until all the pork ribs are evenly coated with the mixture. Set aside for at least 1 hour.
Step 4: Cut the remaining of canned fried dace into smaller pieces, discard the oil in the can. Together with the salted black bean, put on top of the marinated pork ribs (Step 3) which returned to room temperature.
Step 5: In a wok, bring water to boil then place the marinated pork ribs in the steamer and steam over middle high heat for 25 minutes or until cooked.
Step 6: Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve.
