Yen Can Cook ~ Garlic Butter Prawns
Today’s recipe is a perfect dish to cook for busy weeknights as it takes no time to prepare. You only need 3 essential ingredients, prawns, garlic, butter, and a few seasonings.
This dish is basically pan-fried prawns, flavoured with garlic and butter. You may spice up the dish with crushed chilli flakes or fresh bird eye chilies if you want to have it with a bit of a kick.
Ingredients (Serve: 3-4)
600g prawns
5-6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Cooking oil
Salt & pepper to taste
Chopped spring onion for garnishing (optional)

Step 1: Trim the head and leg of the prawns, cut a slit and remove the veins. Pat dry with a paper towel and set aside.
Step 2: Heat up cooking oil in a skillet/wok and pan fry the prawns (Step 1) until fully cooked. Dish up and set aside.
Step 3: In the same skillet, add more cooking oil, stir fry the minced garlic until it starts to brown and fragrant. Add in butter and prawns (Step 2), stir fry to combine.
Step 4: Season with salt and pepper. Dish up and garnish with chopped spring onions.
HAPPY COOKING! #stayhealthy #staysafe

Big, fresh, juicy prawns need the littlest ingredients to make it tasty. If eaten with rice, I would just use oil and garlic. Somehow I find it weird to have something cooked in butter and eaten with rice. If it’s the main protein in a western-style dish, then butter is fine…lol.
Kris, there are quite many of Chinese dishes cooked in butter, the most common one is butter chicken/prawn, aka Nai You Kai/Nai You Har, either dry with shredded egg floss or with gravy.
Ini macam chinese new year kinda dishes 😀
KY, can also 🙂
