Jatujak Bangkok Street Food @ Ara Damansara

My initial plan was visit THIS place after watching the Tik Tok sharing but the super long queue was a deterrent, especially when I’m not sure if the Khao Mun Gai (Thai Chicken Rice) that I wanted to try still available when it’s my turn. So, the Jatujak Bangkok Street Food located on the same row was our replacement lunch spot that day. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Jatujak was full house as well, with a couple groups of customers in the line. They were understaffed, so even there were empty tables, we had to wait for the staff to clean the table before we could be seated.

The al-fresco seating at the side and in front of the restaurant.

We realized that the PJ Khao Man Gai and Jatujak is under same owner/management when we saw the promotional leaflet on the table.

As the name implies, it’s large menu offers delectable range of Thai street food including the show stealer Leng Saeb, assorted charcoal grill, soups, Thai salads, seafood (prawns, fishes & squids), pork, chicken, veggies and egg dishes, fried rice and noodles, desserts and beverages (included beers). There’s also a list of set lunch priced at a rather  affordable price from RM15.90 to RM26.90.

Thai Milk Tea & Lemongrass Tea (RM3.00 – add on price for set lunch)

Basil Minced Pork Rice (Set Lunch – RM16.90)

Pad Kra Pao, a classic Thai street food dish of stir frying minced pork and Holy Basil leaves which was sufficiently flavourful and went perfectly well with rice.

Basil Roasted Pork Rice (Set Lunch – RM25.90)

Generous amount of roasted pork and green beans stir fried in an addictive spicy savoury sauce. Another dish that immediately commands another helping of rice.

Thai Glass Noodles (Set Lunch – RM17.90)

The glass noodles were stir fried with egg, squid and plenty of vegetables. Flavour wise, it’s umami-laden but a bit on oily side which I struggled to finish all. The (fried?)prawns were disappointing, they were dry and coarse.

Red Ruby Water Chestnut (RM10.90)

A milky and refreshing dessert to end the meal.

Verdict: I read quite some commendable reviews online and one of my friend also recommended this place to me before. However my dining experience at Jatujak Bangkok Street Food was far from being impressive in my book, perhaps I should give it a second chance by trying other dishes.
