Acme Bar & Coffee (ABC) @ The Troika

It was a birthday gathering with my makan kaki. (Was it my birthday? Oh ya, was mine which dated on August 2013….. *Cover face and RUN*)

The birthday girl’s suggestion to have a lunch celebration at Acme Bar & Coffee (ABC) @ The Troika was met with instant approval because this place already in their to-try-list for quite some time 🙂

Push the heavy door and step in, be prepared to be bowled over by the industrial yet contemporary interior which exudes a class of its own.

Row of tables placed near the soaring high glass window filled with ample of natural lights is very welcoming and pleasant at sight. I especially adore the tiling and the brilliant use of steel associated in the design.

This place definitely a place you’ll come to look for inspiring decors and food. (perhaps?)

Latte (RM 15.00+)

Swiss Apple Tea (RM 15.00+)

Mango gazpacho (RM 21.00+)

Being adventurous we opted for the chilled soup. Love it or hate it, definitely no between! I’m ok with this, very refreshing and tasted more like a dessert than a starter 😛

Chicken strips (RM 17.00+)

Coated with salted egg yolk, a fail-proof formula; the chicken strips was a crowd pleaser and gone in jiffy! I love anything with salted egg yolk, never once failed to make me gleam with joy ^__^

Hebi aglio olio (RM 31.00+)

The portion was small considering the $ paid but we got a few sizable prawns as reward. Dressed in robust sambal (chili shrimp paste), the pasta was delicious with pleasant spicy kick albeit a bit oily.

Pan Fried Mullet Fish Fillet (RM 39.00+)

The delicately prepared mullet fish fillet had a nice crispy skin and flaky flesh underneath. Accompanied with savory bouillabaisse which enhanced the taste of the fish quite well.

The supporting cast of fried rice balls were executed well too, crunchy outer with soft and nicely flavored rice inner.

Are you eager to sample these delectable looking cakes? Let’s go!

Cempedak Pistachio Cake  (RM 15.00+)

Definitely score point for its novelty choice of fruit used however the taste of the chempedak (jackfruit) was extremely mild, barely can taste it to be frank 🙁 Put the chempedak flavor aside, the texture of the cake itself was airy and the crushed pistachio add more dimension to it.

I still remember how we oh-ah over the chocolate sauce pouring and sizzling moment 😛

IMG_9733

Sizzling Brownie with Oreo Ice Cream  (RM 19.00)

The most-talk-about dessert at ABC! There are so much enthusiasm going about out there and the anticipation was met! From the rich and packed brownie, cold ice cream and bubbling hot chocolate sauce. The bitterness of chocolate has balanced up the sweetness of the brownie and the hot cold combination really works wonder! My only gripe was the chocolate sauce dried up quite quickly, please don’t waste too much time on taking photo ya 😛

“A” score for the food?

Verdict: The food was above average but the price range is a little too steep for my humble wallet. Most probably will come back for special occasion or purposely for the amazing sizzling brownie perhaps?
