Cafe Takahashi @ Tokyo Street, Pavilion KL
Cafe Takahashi, one of the many Japanese eateries that nestled at Tokyo Street, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur serve contemporary Japanese food combining classic Japanese, Italian and Western cuisines.
One will hardly miss the restaurant with its huge window display of sampuru or fake food plastic models which really intrigued the curiosity to check out the offerings at Takahashi Cafe.
Dressed in light creamy colour theme with wooden tables, chairs and booths creating a comfy and casual dining ambiance.
We had tough time deciding what to order from the startling beverage choices in the menu.
Green Tea
Citron Honey Tea, Banana Avocado and Dragon Fruit Smoothies
Oreo Banana Milk Shake
Mushroom Ragout
Thick and creamy mushroom soup chocked-full with mushroom slices served along with mini puff pastries , a brilliant alternative to the common garlic bread.
Hotate Mentai
Sizable scallop lusciously covered with mentaiko (marinated Pollack fish roes) was a tad too salty but I enjoyed the “explosive” texture of the fish roes in my mouth 😛
Potato Salad
Velvety smooth with bits of cucumber and carrot .
Lychee Bacon
The savory bacon wrapped over the sweet juicy lychee provide a well balance of tastes and flavors.
Spicy Prawn Carbonara
I always fans of pasta cooked in carbonara style and this spicy version definitely brought in more satisfactory. The runny egg yolk had moisturized up the whole dish and gave it a slippery smooth texture.
Kamo Konsei Al’Olio
Smoked Duck with Wafu Pasta, is deemed a perfect match! The pasta was prepared in wafu style with mushrooms, chilies, olives and garlic added in, the flavor was light and sliced smoked duck completed the wholesomeness of the flavors.
Chicken Teriyaki with Wafu Pasta
The chicken teriyaki was tender but the taste was just average in my book.
Seafood Kimuchi Soup
A very appetizing soupy noodle dish, laden bountifully with a ton of different ingredients nearly too numerous to count!
Unagi and Egg with Wafu Udon
Unagi and egg, both are my favourite! Slurping down the udon together with the sweet grilled eel and egg definitely a delightful experience!
Spicy Chicken Katsu Pilaf
A more substantial choice of fluffy rice pilaf and a big slab of fried breaded chicken prettied up with mayonnaise and chili sauce. A fairly “safe” choice if you need some staple food.
Ebi Surprise
The huge prawns coated with sweet sambal gravy was tantalizing and the accompanied grilled vegetables and garlic rice make it a complete meal.
Smoked Duck with Thin Crust
Food with smoked duck will never fail to impress me! The bristle thin crust topped with sufficient amount of cheese, savory smoked duck, pineapple, green bell peppers and drizzled with chili sauce.
Takahashi Pizza with Hand Tossed Dough
Banana + tamago – Maybe the weirdest combination for a pizza topping that I ever encounter but the combination of luscious strips of omelet with ripe slivers of banana was an unexpected delight, blending beautifully with the creamy cheese and a subtly sweet sauce.
Teriyaki Beef Burger
A decent serving of burger with house-made beef patty, this could be better if the texture of patty is more firmer.
Sometimes we just under estimated our ability, after the heavy mains we still have room for dessert and luckily we did! Takahashi Cafe have an array of lovely desserts and we manage to try out some of them.
Chocolate Mousse
Made from 3 layers of chocolate with awesomely dense cocoa flavor which is literally melt-in-your mouth. Very chocolicious!
Cappuccino Cheese
This is just not for me as I’m not a fan of coffee but others seem like dug in with gusto and it was polished off in a jiffy!
Macha Tiramisu
Mascarpone cheese flavored with green tea, creamy and rich in texture but taste light to the palate.
Fruit Parfait
Macha Azuki Parfait
A great play on textures and flavors, digging in for surprise! I personally love the intense flavored green tea ice-cream, the slightly bitterness lingering in my mouth leave me a great satisfactory.
