Chinese New Year 2013 Set Menu @ Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant, Parkroyal Hotel
Once again, it is time to welcome the Lunar New Year with this being the Year of Water Snake and say goodbye to the Year of the Water Dragon. So I’ll be focusing on Chinese New Year style set menu review on this week and next, stay tune if you are looking for venue for company’s “Sou Gong” dinner or family Reunion Dinner.
Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurantat Parkroyal Hotel will be featuring a wide range of Yee Sang and Prosperity Set Menus from 18 January to 24 February 2013. I had the privilege to have a sneak preview of some of the dishes available in the set menu as early as end of December! (Even before the Christmas Day!)

Before our dinner served, the restaurant’s Tea Master performing the stunning tea pouring which amazed every guest especially the first timer. Although it was not my first time watching his performance but I’m still admired his precise angle and accuracy when pouring the tea.

The blooming Eight Treasure Tea.

Tropical Fruit Yee Sang
Kicking off the meal was their signature Tropical Fruit Yee Sang.

Julienned fruits such as kiwi, dragon fruit, mango strawberry, apple, honeydew, water apple and pomelo arranged meticulously on the plate; also made up the Yee Sang was some pickled vegetables, crushed peanut, sesame and flour crispies.

Juicy, fruity and refreshing ~
Si Chuan Dou Hua also offers Abalone, Superior Shark’s Fin, Salmon, Yellow Fin Tuna, Soft Shell Crab, Scallop Skirt, Jellyfish and Pacific Clams. These passionately prepared Yee Sang are served with one’s choice of creative sauces like Sour Plum enhanced with Fruit Flavor, Spicy Sour Plum Sauce with Mango or the traditional Sour Plum Sauce. Priced from RM 55.00 nett (half portion) and RM90 nett (full portion) onwards, the Yee Sang dishes are available for dine-in or take-away.

Wok Fried Cod Fish with Spicy Rice Bubbles

The Cod Fish was drenched in an addictive spicy black bean sauce associated with peppercorn, diced bell peppers and onions which added a pleasant crunchy twist. Also featured in the dish was pieces of rice bubble, a combination that we never thought of.

A great play on textures; from the soft Cod Fish and the crispy rice bubble accompanied by the glorious spicy sauce.

Deep Fried Prawns with Spicy Sichuan Peppercorns & Butter Prawns with Oats
The prawn dish was done dual way with different sauces.

The de-shelled prawns was deep fried to a golden finish then coated with Si Chuan peppercorn flakes. The aroma was tantalizing and the flavors was so electrifying, I love the numbing sensation brought out by the peppercorn, very exciting indeed!

The other prawns were equally good too. Coasted with creamy & luscious sauce topped with crispy oats.

Braised Dry Oyster, Sea Cucumber & Black Mushroom with Black Moss Vegetable

A must-have item on any Chinese New Year prosperity menu, consisted of precious and hearty ingredients of dried oyster, see cucumber, mushroom, black moss and broccoli dressed in a light gravy.

Diced Chicken Fried Rice with Salted Egg Yolk
The fried rice was fluffy with an eggy edge and the sinful salted egg yolk definitely heighten up the level of scrumptiousness.

看起来都好好吃哦,尤其是炸鳕鱼和虾,看到我都流口水了><
那虾真的蛮不错的,我吃了好几只,然后很内疚 *减肥中*
That posture will send him into severe neck pain haha… i like spicy sze chuan food (especially those involved pepper corns) but i am a bit picky to certain dishes as i find them too oily to my liking
They are oily and I’ll avoid to scoop that oil when I getting my portion 😛
