E Farm Restoran 森苑饭庄 @ Genting Sempah
After the exhausted Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park visit, we proceeded to have our dinner at E Farm Restoran, located at Genting Sempah. With the assist of the navigation (Waze), we were led to a dark, narrow (one way in and out) and bumpy road surrounded by small forest, it’s a quite challenging drive and the difficulty level was increased due to the downpour that evening.
Their business seem like wasn’t effected by the bad weather. The waiting area was so packed and we had to waited for about 20 minutes to get our table. Customer need to register with the person in charge to get into the waiting list.
The restaurant is perched over the valley overlooking the lush greenery hill. There are three dining areas (photos above are two of the areas) with simple and rustic setting, furnished with big round wooden tables and plastic chairs.

Like most of the restaurants in this vicinity (Gohtong Jaya & Bukit Tinggi), the highly prized river fishes took center stage in the menu and there are many choices with price tag being clearly stated. E Farm Restoran also offer an extensive list of seafood, poultry, pork, vegetables, tofu and soup dishes which included Nyonya Cuttlefish (RM25 & RM50), Claypot Glass Noodles with River Prawns (RM15/100g), Clam & Pig Stomach Soup (RM40 & RM80), Pineapple Fried with Intestines (RM30 & RM60), Pineapple Braised Pork Belly (RM40 & RM80), Steamed Chicken with Ginger Paste (RM50 & RM100), Wolfberry Madeira Vine (RM12 & RM23) and Ginger Paste Beancurd (RM20 & RM38) , just to name a few special ones.
Wild Red Tail Baung (RM120 – RM100 x 1.2kgs)
Since we are not familiar with most of the the river fish species in the list, we opted for the middle range priced Wild Red Tail Baung and had it steamed with dried radish. The fish head part was meaty and it’s certainly a big portion for three of us. Topped with abundance of minced pickled radish (Choy Poh) and garlic in a pool of soy sauce, the steamed fish was well executed with soft and tender flesh.
Ginger Steamed Clams with Meehoon (Small – RM28.00)
The portion really caught us off guard as we didn’t expect to be served with such a big pot of soupy meehoon considering that there were only three of us. I suspected they gave us the big portion but only realized this was the small portion when we made payment.
The broth was richly infused with the sweetness from the clams and spicy kick from the minced ginger which was the perfect tummy warmer on that raining evening. There were generous amount of fresh clams too.
Braised Beancurd with Pickled Radish (Small – RM20.00)
Soft pieces of homemade bean curd (normal & charcoal) topped with pickled radish (yes, pickled radish again =.=”) was nothing spectacularly memorable.
Verdict: Overall, our dining experience at E Farm Restoran was relatively pleasant with good portion food and reasonable price. It’s a restaurant that I don’t mind returning for.

What a splendid recount of your dining experience at E Farm Restoran! I could almost hear the pitter-patter of the rain as you navigated the challenging road to the restaurant. The waiting period too, in spite of being 20 minutes, came across as an exciting prelude for what was awaiting.
The simple yet rustic setting and that view of lush greenery you described, it sounds like such a perfect backdrop for a hearty meal. And talking about meals, wow – from river fishes to poultry and pork dishes up to tofu and soup dishes – they have quite an extensive menu to choose from! The Wild Red Tail Baung fish dish sounded absolutely mouthwatering with minced pickled radish and garlic in soy sauce. Yum!
Your mention about Ginger Steamed Clams with Meehoon piqued my curiosity. It seemed like such a comforting dish on a rainy day. Even though you found Braised Beancurd with Pickled Radish relatively average, your overall review gave me a sense that the place is worth visiting.
Thank you ever so much for sharing your culinary adventure at E Farm Restoran. Your detailed account has certainly put it on my must-visit list when I next travel to Genting Sempah. Keep these amazing food reviews coming!
Tekkaus, thank you for your lengthy comments and I’m glad that you have put this into your must-visit list.
I would love all three dishes coz all very ngam me. One is too big a portion (the la la meehoon) while the other seems a bit small (the tofu) for the price…lol. I’m also not familiar with all these names of river fishes other than wild patin (not sure if it’s the same with patin buah), catfish and baung (pak so kung) which I’ve tried before and they’re good especially patin. ^_~
Kris, I would have skipped the tofu if I know the portion to be such generous. 😛
You’re correct, the Wild Baung is Pak So Kung but the Baung we had is not named as Pak So Kung in Chinese, I also confused. o.O”
Found this entry while searching for genting sempah food! hahahaha!
Not sure if I would want to visit due to the road condition, hope it’s better during day time
Ken, haha, I saw you went. 🙂
