Fatty Daddies @ Damansara Damai, P.J

Hidden in the residential area of Damansara Damai, Fatty Daddies is a neighbourhood restaurant that offers a list of hearty temptations that range widely from East to West, included pizzas (RM22), burgers, sandwiches (RM15-25), main course (RM22-58), rice dishes (RM12-25), local noodle dishes (RM15-38), pastas (RM18-25), tapas (RM10-25), salads and soups (RM10). If you’re pork lover, you’ll enjoy porky dishes such as BBQ pork ribs, sausage platter, pork burger, etc. Other than the usual coffees, teas, fruit juices and beer, the restaurant also has a good collection of cocktails and mocktails, included their signature Toddy themed cocktails (Toddy Mojito & Long Island Toddy).

The dining area is a semi open space, simple and fuss-free.

Roasted Pumpkin Soup (RM10.00)

Thick and creamy, with a mellow of smokiness.

Pulled Pork Ciabatta (RM18.00)

The sandwich was generously filled with nicely flavoured pull pork, caramelized onion, fried egg, coleslaw and fresh vegetables (lettuce, sliced cucumbers and tomatoes).

Fatty Daddies Porky Platter (RM38.00)

The platter comprised their signature pork ribs, crispy pork belly and Moo Ping (Thai style grilled pork skewers). It was also served with a simple salad.

The pork ribs were adequately tender, basted with sweet and sticky sauce, with hint of fruity flavour. The presence of diced fruits provided a refreshing note to the dish. I would have liked the pork ribs to be more meaty.

A rather generous portion of roasted pork belly aka Siew Yoke, considering the recent price hiking of pork. Although the Siew Yoke had a pleasant crunchy skin, but it also quite hard to the texture.  I also think that the marinade could be stronger.

Savoury sweet tasting pork skewers with lovely charred marks. Yummy….

The platter came with two types of dipping – the Sauerkraut (I assumed) dipping was slightly bitter while the fruit dipping was sour with mild heat.

Verdict: Sufficient food choices to cater multiple preferences with rather wallet friendly pricing. A decent option for a meal if you’re staying nearby or happen to be at this area.

  • This is further confirmation that cafes can’t churn out siew yuk as good as the roasted meat stalls (I’ve had similar experiences too)…lol. I noticed both dippings you had were dark-coloured, so probably not sauerkraut (since fermented cabbage is white?). ^_~

    • Kris, I think western style roasted pork doesn’t emphasize on the crispiness of the skin, which we Chinese fond of? For the ingredient in the dipping, I also suspected it was herb like parsley or rosemary, but it didn’t taste like any. =.=”

  • The Pulled Pork Ciabatta caught my eye and so did the Fatty Daddies Porky Platter. Somehow when I eat siew yoke anywhere else, I tend to compare with the nice ones from the chicken rice stalls. LOL!

    • PH, the pulled pork actually not bad at all, I’ll reorder that again.
Like what I told Kris, the western style roasted pork doesn’t emphasize on the crispiness of the skin, which we Chinese fond of, perhaps that’s the reason we still prefer our Siew Yoke from chicken rice stall. 😛

  • Wah all pork, wish there’s something like that nearby my place but instead I’ll settle for BKT. haha
