Loong Kee @ Gohtong Jaya

If you still under the coconut shells, I am pleased to inform you that the interstate travel ban has been lifted. Probably you get the hint by looking at countless social media photos showing long queues at domestic airports, ferries and traffic congestion at popular hotspots.

I have simple mind. I am just happy that i can travel to even Genting Highland which is just a mere 40km+ from my home but located at neighbouring state. Why? So I can have a pipping hot soupy dinner at a cool ambience (literally cool as in a few drop of Celsius).

It was an impromptu trip to Gohtong Jaya for dinner on a Friday evening. Gohtong Jaya is a service township of Genting Highlands named after Lim Goh Tong, the founder of Genting Group. Located on a plateau 5km below the peak, the town houses many restaurants (mostly Chinese restaurants), shops and hotels. There are new developments of high-rise premium condominiums and commercial districts sprouting over the valley in recent years too. Check out my dining experience at Gohtong Jaya HERE.

Occupied two shoplots, Loong Kee was one of the busiest restaurants on that stretch of eateries that day and decided to settle our dinner here. The restaurant interior was simple yet inviting, with brightly lit dining area and tables were well spaced, adhered to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The large menu offered a delectable list of Dai Chow dishes (with appealing photos attached), ranging from seafood, poultry, pork, vegetables, egg and tofu. Loong Kee’s menu also featured Malaysia’s highly prized freshwater fishes such as Empurau, Patin, Catfish, Kerai and many more.

Superior Soup Kapa Clam (Small – RM28.00)

Nothing beats having a bowl of pipping hot soup on a rainy evening. Served with a burner underneath to keep the soup warm throughout the dinner, our Shiong Tong Lala laden with fresh hard shell clam, shredded ginger, garlic slices, chilies and basil leaves. The broth was savoury and slightly peppery with a kick of heat that’ll warm us up even more!

Prawn with Butter Sauce (Small – RM48.00)

We seldom order prawn dishes when dining out because they are normally more expensive and we’re not really fan of this crustacean. Hubby decided to splurge a bit on that day’s meal by ordering a prawn dish.

The prawns were deep fried for an extra fragrant and flavours before tossing in butter sauce. The prawns were fresh and meaty, the finger licking good sweet savoury butter sauce was perfect complementary to the dish.

Deep Fried Loong Kee Pork Belly (Small – RM20.00)

I heard that this dish was originated from one of the restaurants in Gohtong Jaya and we never miss to order this whenever we dine in at this area.

Thinly sliced pork belly deep fried to a perfect crunchiness and glistened with caramelized soy sauce coating. What’s not to love. I was hoping for a pint of beer to go with this, hehe. く(^ー゚)ノ

Stir Fried Choy Sum Kailan (Small – RM11.00)

An hybrid of Choy Sum and Kailan, nice!

♥Verdict: All in all, if you’re looking for food at Gohtong Jaya or even Genting Highlands (eateries up there not really tickle my fancy to be honest =.=”), Loong Kee definitely worth to put on your to-try list!
