** Update @ 18/2/2024 – Man Shan will be changing the business name to Màn Yún 漫雲, effective 18/2/2024

I saw photos of my friend was dining at Man Shan a couple months ago then followed by a friend shared about her wellness retreat at this place too. It ignited my interest when I checked about the alluring environment in FB page and decided to treat hubby his birthday lunch at Man Shan.

Reservation is a must here at Man Shan for lunch or tea because there are limited seating and capacity to make sure the comfortability of every guest. This place also a guest house and served as an event space for activities like talks, seminars or wellness retreats. Check out their FB page for monthly schedule update if you’re planning a visit.

Drove along the picturesque Jalan Temiang-Pantai in Negeri Sembilan, which has gone viral for resembling New Zealand, according to some. (♥ω♥*)

The road go to Man Shan is quite hilly and narrow, with the assist of Waze, we arrived right before the reservation time.

The lovely front yard garden is filled with tall trees (spot Petai and avocados?), assorted plants and flowers.

The facade of the main building.

One can surely feel the serenity once stepped into the lobby. The fully wooden structure featuring timber beams and pillars, stained windows, shelves of books and Guanyin statues, it imparts a sense of tranquility to the ambience.

The “basement” is the guest house area.

Set behind the lobby is the wooden dining area/event space which is raised high above the ground, overlooking the lush greenery. There are options of being seated on normal table and chair or sit on the floor (cushions are provided) and eat at low table.

Gong Mei White Tea (RM24/pot)

All meal need to be pre-ordered via WhatsApp after the confirmation of reservation. Menu will be provided with a few choices of VEGETARIAN set meal (mine were 6 options + 1 single dish kid menu)

Nyonya Vegetarian Fish (with egg RM36.00/without egg RM33.00)

Vegetarian food is served here and prepared without using five pungent vegetables (onions, garlic, chives, green onions and leeks)but egg and dairy products are used (can be replaced with Tofu, vegetables or fruits)

The Bento set comprises mains, rice, salad, appetizer, soup and fruit skewer.

I opted to have Nyonya Fish and the portion given was decent. There were four chunks of plant-based fish aka mock fish cooked in appetizing Nyonya sauce, mild spicy, savoury and sour.

The rice was crowned with beautifully done omelet but portion was a bit on small side.

Fried Katsu Mushroom Steak (with egg RM40.00/without egg RM37.00)

The deep fried breaded mushroom steak was rather dry but hubby seem like enjoyed the crunchiness of it. (╮╯╭)

Japanese Curry with Omu Cheese Fried Rice and Fried Katsu Steak (RM33.00)

This was the only option if the portion of Bento set is too much for you.  Flavour wise, nothing to shout about though.

Merchandise and price of therapy for your reference.

It started to rain when we were halfway through our lunch. So we stayed back after our lunch, enjoyed sipping the tea, listening to gentle sound of rain falling and chatting away. Simply love the refreshing air, ambiance of peacefulness which provided a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Verdict: To be honest, food wasn’t the main attraction at Man Shan. The natural surrounding and the view of the canopy of towering trees which can induce a sense of calmness and relaxation for patrons, it’s a sanctuary that sets it apart from the chaotic pace of the city.

  • I like this area that surrounds Man Shan with lush greenery and tall trees. The food may not be the best but it was happiness for your family bonding time. Fresh air and green ambiance is good for our health and well being.

This place reminds me of Tamarind Springs at Ukay Heights which has very excellent dining menu and overlooks similar green trees amidst the nature. It has been years ago when I frequented this place. Time for a revisit.

    • TM, I just saw that Man Shan is going to move to new place in November (but the location has yet confirmed), hopefully their new location is as good as the current one.

  • Yeah, from your food photos, I also realised that the food wasn’t the main attraction…lol. Like you said, it’s the surroundings that make the meal more enjoyable. If you like this kind of vibe, you can threat your hubby to a Little Farm on the Hill. ^_~

  • That tornado egg looks awesome
