Nasi Lemak Shop @ Bandar Utama, P.J
When mention about the must-try Nasi Lemak in Klang Valley, Village Park Restaurant is always one of the recommendations in the list. Recently, there is a new Nasi Lemak spot that has become a viral hit – Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu, which is opened for slightly more than one year is now has total of six outlets within Klang Valley!
Early last month, hubby was in the mood to try out this Nasi Lemak eatery that has been very much raved about on social medias. But…… we were too early that day and the restaurant hadn’t opened yet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Since we were at TTDI, Nasi Lemak Shop at Bandar Utama flashed across my mind, and we made a beeline for the restaurant.
I have been heard from my friends regarding the popularity of this crowd pleasing Nasi Lemak place, so I’m kind of expected the long queues of people wait in line. We registered with the staff and waited at the designated waiting area which was equipped with light refreshment.
The whole space is undoubtedly FULLY UTILIZED! Tables are cramped within the dining area and patrons were “squeezed” on the counter seats. Luckily there were sufficient staff to provide prompt service and the waiting time for the food wasn’t too long.
The full occupancy al-fresco seating on the corridor of the shop.
The menu is simple and straightforward with Nasi Lemak with assorted dishes (RM6.90-15.90), several options of local noodles included Asam Laksa (RM14.90), Prawn Noodle (RM16.90), Hor Fun Soup (RM14.90), Lontong Nasi Impit (RM15.90), Mee Siam (RM8.90), toasts, and the most surprising item of Bingsu in various of flavors (Thai Milk Tea, Mango, Cocunut, Chocolate & Calamansi – RM14.90 each) which I never expect to be found in a Nasi Lemak specialty restaurant.
Cham (RM5.80)
Very big cup!
Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng (RM15.90) + Telur Goreng (RM3.00)
Served on plate lined with brown wax paper and banana leaf, the Nasi Lemak here was beautifully executed and completed with all essential condiments of coconut milk infused rice, Sambal, crunchy fried anchovies, peanuts, sliced cucumbers and halved hard boiled egg.
The rice was fluffy, decently fragrant and flavoursome, topped with crunchy and deep fried crumbs of lemongrass and ginger.
For the Ayam Goreng Berempah (spiced fried chicken), we were served with a piece of chicken drumstick as well as a piece of chicken thigh. It definitely got a tick of approval with its succulent flesh and gorgeous flavours from the aromatics and spices of the marinade.
The sambal was rather spicy (for my standard) which added a kick of heat to the dish.
Sambal Sotong (RM7.00)
Tender pieces of squid simmered in Sambal gravy that packed with piquant and umami flavour.
Calamansi Bingsu (RM14.90)
I couldn’t resist to treat myself a bowl of their Korean Bingsu. Finely shaved milky flavoured ice was topped with calamansi jelly, as well as two types of Boba – slightly chewy calamansi Boba (white) and another one with bursting calamansi syrup when bite into it. The tangy and refreshing flavour of the calamansi was a nice contrast to the spicy Nasi Lemak.
Verdict: Despite the large crowd and the cramped dining area, we enjoyed the Nasi Lemak and Bingsu here. Portion was huge considering two sizeable pieces of fried chicken were given for each plate of Nasi Lemak.

The nasi lemak looks good and wow the crowd! That must be a weekend when you visited. Ironically although I live in BU, I never visited this place. Perhaps one day I should but the crowd is discouraging as I dislike crowded places.
PH, I only have weekend for food hunting… ~>_<~ I guess non peak hour on weekdays should be not as crowded, try it and hope you like the food!
Heard about the Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu but they only open in the afternoon till early hours of the morning. I think this is a better bet in terms of queue and service (a lot of complaints in the other one). The nasi lemak does look good…why are all the good ones in DU…lol.
Kris, Cheras area also has a lot of good food, but grass is always greener on the other side, haha!
Let me try the NL Burung Hantu and make comparison then share with you all!
