Opika Organic Market & Restaurant @ 1 Utama
What is your first impression when people mention about organic food? Bland, boring and EXPENSIVE grains, beans and vegetables? You might change your impression if you have chance to dine in Opika just like me. Flip through their menu, I was amazed by the selection of food available ranging from the basic vegetables, grains and nuts there are also chicken, fish and beef dishes! Surprise, surprise right? Organic food is not all about vegetarian! (Or just me overacted? LOL)
Visited on Sunday evening and the place was fully occupied, so it’s advisable to make reservation if you plan for a visit on weekends.
The dining area was featured with patterned red walls and adorned with plenty of framed interesting quotes and pictures. The ambiance was cozy and the service was impeccable however it could be better if the tables were placed not too close with each other until I can hear the neighbour’s conversation 😛
A fairly large organic grocer is part of the scene too houses a very extending organic fares.
Racks of organic ingredients, dry goods, snacks and canned food.
Organic beverages.
A cheerful array of fresh produces which majority sourced from local farms.
Organic body care products.
Dessert display counter
An open kitchen right at the middle of the restaurant where diners can get some kitchen actions.
Organic Roselle Tea (RM 5.90+)
Wild Mushroom Soup (RM 9.90+)
Embodied with full mushroom glory, the soup was thick and satisfying with each spoonful left a very strong aroma of the fungi behind.
Confit of Free Range Chicken (RM 29.90+)
The chicken thigh is slow cooked in red palm oil for 5 hours rendering the achingly tender texture of the meat and fall apart at the gentle prod of my knife.
Instead of usual mashed potato, the side served along was sweet potato puree flavored with raw honey and pineapple chutney. The puree was sweet with a pleasing sour note towards the end, a brilliant combination indeed!
Pan Seared Salmon Steak (RM 24.90+)
Seated gorgeously on bed of pilaf rice and zucchini salsa, the sizable salmon steak was prepared beautifully with crispy outer and moist inner. Seasoning was minimal to retain the original flavor of the fish.

Green Tea and Azuki Cream Cake (RM 8.90+) & Banana Chocolate Cake (RM 9.90+)
Too greedy when ordering and ended up with our dessert was packed back to home as our supper 😛 I like the green tea cake which was adequately moist and layered with generous red bean cream, the chocolate banana cake on the other hand was a bit too dry and crumbly for my liking.
The worldwide organic certification label tells you that the food and products carried at the Opika market has been certified organic.
Verdict: Converting my diet completely to organic way definitely not an easy task due the prices but I know where can find delicious organic food now whenever I need a light & detox meal 😛

Salmon looks great, reasonably priced too!
Salmon always a safe choice 😛
Somehow the idea of the body care products and the kitchen in the same place seems a bit odd to me, but it’s definitely apart, I am sure 😛
Organic is the rage these days, with the promotion of healthy living and eating, it’s like everyone is into this trend…
Then again, how to say no to the gorgeous sight of the salmon and also the green tea azuki cakes eh? They have definitely spiced up the concept of organic food, and in a very delicious way! 😉
The kitchen is fully covered up, so not really awkward if placed in same area & they are not really near with each other too 😛
that’s a nice-looking preparation for chicken! 🙂
The taste also nice!
