Penang Trip 2015 ~ Food Hunt & Biscuits Shopping
The food hunt definitely didn’t stop at only one place! We were brought to this little roadside stall in front of a small shoplot not far away from Tiger CKT for some delicious mini egg tarts.
Manned by an old lady and her family members (I guess), this stall selling varieties of pastries, cakes and light food such as egg tarts (both normal and mini size) Siew Bao, Ma Lai Gou, yam cakes and fried radish cakes. I also spotted some food were being freshly prepared in the shoplot.
RM 5.00 for 10 mini egg tarts.
Normally I’ll opt for egg tart with flaky puff pastry shell but this version shortcrust butter pastry won my heart too! The shell was toothsome with pleasant buttery aroma filled with adequate egg custard. Certainly worth recommending!
Me and hubby only shared a plate of CKT earlier, so we had our second breakfast at Kedai Kopi Sin Hwa located at Jalan Burma. Occupied 2 shoplots, the restaurant is slightly worn down with typical kopitiam setting.
This place is famous for the Char Kway Teow but since we just had it so we settled with Asam Laksa instead.
Our bowl of Asam Laksa was topped with shredded cucumber, onion, lettuce and torch ginger flower. The broth looks light but it was actually quite robust in flavors. I like my Asam Laksa with minced fish broth instead of fish pieces, so this not really a version I fancy π

Last but no least, the biscuit shopping. Instead of those touristy biscuit shops, Ken showed us this traditional biscuit shop located at the back of our hotel.
A retail shop cum biscuits making place.
Wide variety of biscuits and pastries are selling here at Hock Lok Siew Biscuit Trading. (η¦η¦ε―Ώι₯ΌιΊ)
We got a few boxes of this Tambun Biscuit which is one of the famous local product, best as gift for friends and family!
