Round Pizza Napoletana @ Happy Mansion, Section 17, P.J
After a few rounds of discussion, Round Pizza Napoletana (Round Pizza) was the final decision of venue for the birthday celebration of our April baby.
Located in the foodie enclave in Section 17, Petaling Jaya, Round Pizza is one of the restaurants that mushrooming in this neighbourhood.
This handsome Italian made mobile pizza oven stands elegantly at the corner of the restaurant. It churns out mouth-watering pies which are made with homemade pizza dough that has been well-hydrated and fermented.
The restaurant is chic and minimalist with straight forward wooden furniture. The cozy ambience filled with lots of natural light is very welcoming and pleasant at sight.
Round serves coffee and cakes during daytime and turns into a pizza + wine bar by nightfall.
Their Neapolitan Pizza takes center stage in the menu with choices of meat and meatless toppings, as well as both Rosso (red) and Bianca (white) base option. There is also a curated selection of salads, cold cuts and desserts to supplement your meal.
Orange & Anchovies (RM30.00)
It’s a complex flavour that I never had before which combines tanginess from the orange, savouriness of the chopped anchovies and the acidic of the Balsamic vinegar. The Extra Virgin Olive Oil dressing is good as dipping for the pizza bread.
Margherita with Cow Milk Cheese (RM49.00)
We had the crowd favourite classic – the Margherita, showcases the tomato sauce made with the premium San Marzano tomatoes, D.O.P Parmigiano Reggiano, Fior Di Latte (Mozzarella) and fresh basil. The pizza is cooked in a wood-fired oven for a gorgeously crisp with blistery charred finish. The crunch on the crust and chewy on the centre. A dish with the simplest and straight forward ingredients, but executed with grace and passion.
Funghi (RM63.00)
Crowned with earthy wild mix mushrooms, creamy Fior Di Latte (cow’s milk Mozzarella), D.O.P Parmigiano Reggiano, fresh basil and a touch of heat from the chili salsa, delighted in this chewy and crisp Naples-style cheese base pizza left me wanting more!
Diavola with Pork Pepperoni (RM66.00)
Being adventurous that day, we (4 out of 6, excluded me (‘∀`) ) accepted the challenge of trying “Devil” Pizza (Diavola = devil in Italian) which consists of Habanero Chili and slathered with fermented Habanero salsa. The pie is also layered with Fior Di Latte, crispy and aromatic pork pepperoni, spinach and D.O.P Parmigiano Reggiano, combination proves successful with its explosive but harmonious blend of flavours. The Habanero salsa adds a spicy depth to the creamy cheese and the heat level is tolerable as long as you don’t bite on that small but mighty Habanero Chili which promises to leave you in absolute tears.
Verdict: Round Pizza Napoletana checks all the boxes, from dough to toppings, my only concern is the steep pricing. It would not a regular casual eating place for me (if compared with THIS), but I’ll put this on my list when comes to special occasion, perhaps a pizza & wine date?
