Sen Kee Satay 仙记沙爹 @ Desa Jaya, Kepong
Sen Kee Satay is our go-to places whenever we crave for Satay. Although they had moved a couple of times but luckily we still managed to reconnect with them. \(^▽^)/
Sen Kee Satay is just a food stall and it’s currently housed in this Restoran Wei Chen, one of the Kopitiams located in Taman Desa Jaya commercial area and only open in the evening.
From its name, you’ll know Sen Kee Satay is operated by Chinese and it’s unsurprisingly that you can get pork Satay here. Actually, Sen Kee Satay is known for offering duck meat Satay, which is rather novelty for meat choices of Satay. But of course there are more exotic meats such as beef innard, rabbit or even ostrich, are being served in some of the Satay specialist restaurants, for example the famous Sate Kajang Haji Samuri.
Pork Satay (RM1.50/stick)
Satay, or Sate in Indonesian spelling, is a Southeast Asian dish of seasoned, skewered and grilled meat, served with a sauce. Sen Kee pork Satay is our obligatory order as we found that their signature duck Satay didn’t impress as much as I thought it would. The texture was a bit tough for our liking. While the lamb and chicken were just decent, nothing out of ordinary. Served with usual condiments of cucumber and raw onion, the pork was marinated with turmeric, lemongrass and other herbs and spices, which gives it that distinctive yellow tinge and aromatic flavour. For those who doesn’t fancy fat meat Satay, Sen Kee pork Satay is exactly what you want. The all-lean-meat skewers were well charred and caramelised on the outside, adequately tender and robust in flavour.
I used to love their peanut sauce a lot but it seem like less chunky and less pronounced in flavour now.
Verdict: Although the peanut sauce was slightly disappointed now but Sen Kee Satay still our favourite place for Satay. Usually we call ahead to make order and takeaway to enjoy the skewers in the comfort of our home. Since they also do catering for party orders, it’s recommend to call ahead before making your way over.

So enticing, if only it’s not the other side of Klang Valley for me.
KY, try night /evening jog one day at DPC then continue with pork satay.
Ah, satay run by Chinese is not as easy to find here in KL. There was one very good one in the famous town of satay where the peanut sauce has a dollop of pineapple sauce in it but they’ve since called it a day. :'( I really like those sauce with pineapple in it (and this you can only find with Chinese-style satay).
Kris, I had once the satay peanut sauce with pineapple jam at Melaka and if I remember correctly, the sauce from Sen Kee used to put pineapple jam too, but now not anymore. 🙁
