Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant Chinese New Year Menu 2012
To mark the beginning of a prosperous Dragon Year, Chef Chew Chee Kuong from Si Chuan Dou Hua brings blessings and prosperity to the table with lavish feasts of auspicious set menus. I was honoured the chance to visit the restaurant again for their Chinese New Year menus showcase the significant symbolic dishes.
Purple + blue colour theme which quite rarely used for Chinese restaurant but still provide the pleasant dining ambiance with soft old melodies at background.
Our dinner kicked started with their signature Tropical Fruits Yee Sang.
Tropical Fruit Yee Sang
Consisted of variety julienned fruits of kiwi, dragonfruit, mango, strawberry, water apple, pomelo, pear & rock melon. A very refreshing yet delectable concoction with right balance of sweet, sour & crunchy elements.
The condiments & sour plus sauces enhanced with fruit flavor.
Get your chopsticks ready!
Lou Hei! Lou Hei! Wishing lots of health & happiness to my family & friends & of course myself!
Braised Mini Shark’s Fin with Sea Treasure in Butter Cream Superior Stock
I didn’t try this but according to my companions that night, the soup was superb with combination of all precious seafood such as sea cucumber and crab meat giving it a distinctive sweet and wholesome flavors.
Steamed Fried Spring Chicken with Chinese Herbs and Sea Moss
The spring chicken was smaller in size if compare with the normal farm chicken. The meat was tender and the juiciness remained although it had been steamed & fried , all the goodness from the Chinese herbs infused nicely infused within.
Butter Prawn with Fragile Oatmeal
The aroma from the butter sauce was so electrifying, I start drooling even before I savor it! The de-shelled prawns were fried with slightly crispy on outer, coated evenly with luscious butter cream and dash of oatmeal provide the crunchy finishing to the dish.
Wok Baked Sea Grouper Fish with “Lao Gan Ma” and Sichuan Chili Bean Paste
Presented auspiciously red in color, the combination of “Lao Gan Ma” Chili sauce and Sichuan chili bean paste had heighten the scrumptiousness of the fish.
Fried Rice with Seafood and Pumpkin
The fried rice in golden hue laden bountifully with cubed pumpkin, crab meat, prawn, spring onion and egg.
Our dinner not ended here as we ordered some dessert from the daily menu.
Beancurd with Wolfberries Syrup
Something you can’t miss when you are here! Yogurt is used instead of gypsum powder, it’s definitely more healthy! The silky smooth texture of beancurd tasted even better with the wolfberries syrup!
Dried Longan, Lotus Seed, Ginko & White Fungus.
Sea coconut, White fungus with Longan
Chilled Honeydew with Sago
Red Bean Paste Pancake
Other than the beancurd, this Boiled Sliced Beef with Chili Oil is a must too! Sunny & I addicted to it since our first try, don’t simply try it, this is a WARNING!
We were served with Eight Treasures Tea throughout the dinner which consist of red dates, wolfberries, chrysanthemum, dried longans, dried lily buds, Jasmine tea leave, ‘mai dong’(麦冬) & rock sugar. We were unlucky that night because the tea master was on leave that night, watch his skillful tea pouring performance here.
