Silver Spoon Trattoria @ Bandar Menjalara, Kepong
Silver Spoon Trattoria, a restaurant at Bandar Menjalara, Kepong that serve Italian infused western food. As a Kepong inhabitant, I was hardly believe when such an “up scale” restaurant appeared here, a neighborhood that related to an image of old, “ulu” or “kampung”. But I was relief when I flipped through their menu, surprisingly very affordable that really live up to its name “trattoria” ~ a casual style eating establishment.
The restaurant boasts an elegant interior with dark wooden furniture and had a lovely golden aura from the lovely chandeliers.
There is also a private room which suitable for small function that can accommodate 20-30 persons.
The quirky wine bottles boat blended harmonically with the classic interior.
The lovely collections ceramic plates adorned one of the wall.
A fairly sizable wine cellar.
Some of the mocktails we had that evening, from Left to Right:-
Silver Spoon Special (RM 15.00++) – orange, banana, strawberry, pineapple, lemon
Green Granny (RM 15.00++) – cucumber, celery, grren apple, honey
October Sea Breeze (RM 15.00++) – grapefruit, orange juice, sweet & sour mix with vanilla syrup
~Special concoction from the bar, please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any special request .
Lamb Stew (RM 14.00++)
The lamb stew was so robust and full of flavors, the lamb shoulder was braised till soft but still provided a good biting texture. A straightforward dish but was nicely executed, what missing here most probably was a piece of bread to mop up the plate 😛
Spicy Twin Duck Spaghetti (RM 24.00++)
Our first pasta dish came topped with lavish ingredients of crispy smoked duck, roasted duck and grilled aubergine. Prepared with porchini stock, this very well explained the fragrance that emitted when we digging in with our fork. The pièce de résistance of this pasta definitely the moreish fried smoked duck, crispy and addictive!
Creamy Mustard Grain Fettucine (RM 25.00++)
The creamy pasta was crowned with smoked salmon which beautifully shaped into a rose shape, oh so adorable. The fettucine was bathed in rich but thankfully not too cloying cream sauce with plenty of mustard seed to provided a mild pungency and balanced up the creaminess of the overall taste.
Spring Chicken (RM 39.00++)
Definitely not your ordinary grilled spring chicken, cut it off for surprise!
Ta ta! The spring chicken was stuffed with chestnut and mix vegetables stuffing, served with mushroom sauce.
The spring chicken was perfectly grilled, tender and the juiciness of the meat still retained however the stuffing was a wee bit on the bland side. The accompanied mushroom sauce worth a mention too as it consisted of chunky mushroom and really enhanced the flavor of the chicken. I think this dish is an ideal food for this coming Christmas, do you agree?
Mushroom Pizza with Truffle Oil & Feta (RM 26.00++)
The freshly made to order pizza base had a nice crispy edges with copious topping of sliced wild mushrooms and luscious feta cheese. This pizza is available in the set lunch menu which available on weekdays or can be ordered ala carte.
Tiramisu (RM 15.00++)
We were stuffed but how can we missed their signature “Pick Me Up”dessert?
Well worth the anticipation, the tiramisu was creamy with silky smooth mascarpone cheese filling. It carried a strong Kahlua and coffee taste (at least for me :P), for those who preferred a dessert with robust flavor, this is an ideal “sweet”conclusion for a meal! ^__^
Verdict: I’m glad about the presence of such cozy family restaurant in my neighborhood, although not everything we had on that evening managed to WOW us but will definitely come back for its wallet friendly and good sharing portion food 🙂
