Skewers @ SS2, P.J – (Updated – Closed Down)
Looking for a place to relax after a hectic day at work? Happy hour session with buddies with good selection of alcohols and snacks? Try out the Skewers, new kid on the block at the food hub of SS2, Petaling Jaya.

Stirring up a simple facade with mostly fading grayish tone, the setting exudes an easy going vibe in its ambience. The potted plants arranged neatly on shelves add liveliness to the space.

Outdoor seats
Specialist in grilled skewers (hence the name) or Yakitori in Japanese, Skewers gives me an impression of izakaya (居酒屋) which is a cozy little drinking place that is very popular among the after-work drinking crowds (or happy hour) in Japan.

Pork Belly (RM 4.90)

Scallops (RM 4.90)

Beef Wrapped Enoki Mushroom (RM 4.90)
The bite-size meat & seafood skewers were well marinated and meticulously grilled to perfection, tender and juicy.

Egg Plant (RM 1.90)

Shiitake (RM 1.90)
The skewers selection not only limited to meat, we also had the vegetables such as the grilled egg plant and mushrooms. I personally adored how they prepared the egg plant, expertly seasoned with spices, it was pleasantly soft and emitted a enticing smoky aroma after being grilled. The Shiitake mushrooms was equally tantalizing with its robust earthy flavor.

Cheesy Pork Ribs (RM 49.90)

Took center stage that evening was this star item in their menu, the crowd-pleaser cheesy pork ribs. Served on pool of melted cheese with corn kernels, the grilled pork chop infused with flavorful marinade was very impressive on its own. Dipped into the luscious melted cheese for that sinful satisfactory, this certainly won’t disappointed the cheese lovers! Eat this while hot or else the cheese will be harden.

Grilled BBQ Pork Rib Racks (RM 39.90)
A less guilty option of grilled pork ribs without the melted cheese. The vinegarish flavor of the BBQ sauce and the meat’s original flavor complement each other very well.

Grilled Pork Chop (RM 15.90)
Seasoned heavily with spices and herbs, it scored marks for the flavor however fell short on the doneness. The pork chop was a tad too dry for my liking.

Moroccan Lamb Shank (RM 25.90)
Come in a good sharing portion, the lamb shank drenched in tangy and appetizing tomato base gravy on bed of mashed potato.
Need some staple food to fill up the tummy before continue to drink? Here you go!

Seafood Aglio Olio (RM 15.90)

Pork & Bacon Bolognese (RM 16.90)
Both paste was decent but nothing too extraordinary though.

Verdict: The cheesy pork ribs definitely worth recommending. The wide selection of grilled skewers and alcohols make this place an ideal spot for your happy hour session. The affordable price range also another attractive factor nonetheless.

Wah! Wah! I love that pork belly and scallop skewers! It really brought smiles to me as I just ate them in Himeji – Japan last month. I drank so much sake and beer with the skewers till mabuk.

I frequent SS2 whenever I go PJ, but never notice this restaurant. Their food is kinda unique!
This restaurant is quite new in that area, try this whenever u come to KL again 🙂
All the sinful but goodness on the skewers. That cheesy pork rib sure look tempting.
Haha, I believe hardly got people can resist 😛
I prefer the Moroccan Lamb Shank to the cheesy pork rib because it looks like the cheese may be too cloying.
That’s definitely a sharing portion, if finish it alone will be very very cloying 😛

希望你喜欢我的好介绍!
Nice! I love the scallop and mushroom skewers. I thought this was at the same row as Sanbanto but you mentioned Murni so it’s opposite the block. I drive past here quite often but I’ve never seen it, it’s on the road leading into SS2 (at least the one I take into SS2). I’ll check it out when I’m back.
I’m not sure the exact location of Sanbanto (my direction sense is suck!) but you are right, it’s facing the road into SS2 🙂
Ohh…cheesy pork. I am not sure if I can handle it. HAhah
Enjoy it with your family, sharing is caring~
Ooo…I love food on a stick….and these ones are very affordably priced…yay!
I tried calling 018-3998260 but was answered by a man who seemed very annoyed. I was told that number belongs to him.
