SWAG Bar & Grill @ PJ Palms Sports Centre
SWAG Bar & Grill, located in the heart of Petaling Jaya, nestled within an unlikely place of PJ Palms Sports Centre.
Boasted with industrial themed, the restaurant is dressed in cool hue of grey and black paired with light colour wooden furniture all handmade and imported from Philippines. The ground floor features a dining area with a few sections to cater different groups of patrons. The ambiance is simple but soothing and lively with some background music. According to Sudip Thiagi, the entrepreneur and owner of SWAG Bar & Grill, he prefer to spin music genres of non-commercial house, electro swing, nu-disco and retro instead of having live band like most of the bars. They are currently in the process of experimenting with a local artiste on what he calls Sunday Soul Session.

The upper floor houses the bar and a private room. Echoing the concept of ground floor, this section has a laid back atmosphere partnered with sleek black tiled bar counter complete with Edison bulbs hovering over draught beer taps.
The outdoor section scream for attention too as it offers a great view of the city skyline as well as the swimming pool. This area also equipped with barbeque grill.
SWAG’s food menu was quite simple include some appetizers, mains, skewers and bites. The beverage menu on the other hand was extensive from the usual juices, soft drinks, coffee and wide array of cocktails, wine and liquor.
Cranberry Vodka, Pineapple Malibu & Classic Mojito
6 Pieces Platter (RM 16.00 – Tomato + Mushroom + Salmon)
Tomato Bruschetta ~ The tangy diced tomatoes indeed a perfect palate opener.
Mushroom Bruschetta~ The sauteed mushroom had great garlicky flavor however the chef must be heavy handed when comes to salt, it was slightly too salty for me.
Salmon Bruschetta ~ Thick salmon slice lay on spread of cream cheese, I couldn’t find any reason not to love it 😛
Spicy Lamb Shoulder (RM 20.00)
Brilliantly marinaded, the lamb cutlet was fantastic with hint of spiciness that tempted me to go for one bite after another. Orange mustard sauce was served along but it barely need any dipping to enjoy its full potential.
SWAG Nasi Lemak
The nasi lemak was pretty average though but I like the perfectly crunchy fried anchovies and drumstick which was robust and full of flavors.
Chicken Cordon Bleu (RM 24.00)
The chicken roulade wrapped around ham and cheese, breaded and deep fried then showered with cheese sauce. It was rather welcoming on the palate but still lie below expectation as the taste of the cheese sauce was subdued to enhance the flavor of the meat.
A huge slab of nicely grilled beef sirloin steak with a side of fries and sauteed vegetables served with black pepper, brown and red wine sauce.
Cooked to medium pink, the sirloin steak was so succulent with small ratio of fat rendering a marvelous flavours intertwined with the tender lean meat. With minimal seasoning, I rather enjoyed the its own beefy jus.
The SWAG (RM 22.00)
It was a tall stack of beef patty, beef bacon, cheese, caramelized onions, tomato and lettuce which almost toppling over due to its sheer size, oppss…. ^__^ The beef patty was done medium, retaining its juiciness with slightly charred bits on the edges that gave this burger a nice bite. Imagine one big bite into all the ingredients, yum yum~~
Verdict: I like the ambiance and I can predict this place will become a popular happy hour venue for its laid-back vibe and wide array of cocktails.
