The Farmer @ Taman Usahawan Kepong – Changed name to Luck Farm
A post from PH reminded me of my last year’s Winter Solstice dinner with my family. My youngest sister (the most picky one in our family ( ͡≖ ͜ʖ ͡≖) ) suggested this venue and we just have to agree to avoid her dissatisfaction, hehe. (・o・)ゞ
From the long waiting queue outside The Farmer, this rather new addition to one of the busiest F&B hub in the neigbourhood is a popular dinner spot in this area. Although reservation is made but we still needed to wait for almost 20 minutes due to the table was still occupied by last group of customers.
The capacity isn’t really big at The Farmer but the comfort level was decent but service was slightly slow due to the staff shortage and the congestion at the cashier counter which was resulted from the ongoing lucky draw promotion.
Stone Pot Fish takes center stage in the menu with various of flavours to choose from such as Garlic Crab Roes, Mala, Green Pepper, Pickled Veggie, Pickled Chili and etc. One can have the dish to be cooked in one way (Stone Pot) or two ways (Stone Pot and part of the sliced fishes are cook into another dish). Other than Stone Pot Fish, there’re dishes serve in stone pot as well, include stone pot frog, intestines, pork trotter, chicken, pork ribs, beef, lamb and tofu. Classic Sichuan dishes like Spicy Deep Fried Chicken (La Zi Ji), Sichuan Poached Chicken aka Saliva Chicken, Sour Spicy Shredded Potato, Garlic Pork Belly (Suan Ni Bai Rou) and skewers are available too. The are small selection of desserts as well.
Salted Egg Fish Skin (RM16.00)
Deep Fried Pork (RM20.00)
Both appetizers were delicious and generous in portion.
Pressure Cooked Taro Rice (One Pot for 4 pax – RM15.00)
Hmm….. the yam cubes and red dates didn’t seem to provide any flavour to the rice. >_<
Three Mix Seafood Stone Pot (One Taste – RM208.00)
I apologize for didn’t take the photo of the pot after the soup was pouring into the pot.
We opted for Striped Snakehead fish and Chinese Yam Fish Soup for our pot. It was laden bountifully with deep fried fish slices, prawns, clams, mung bean noodles, fried taro sticks, mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, corns and sprinkles of deep fried soy beans and minced garlic. The milky fish broth was rich yet not overly salty which provided room for other ingredients to further enhance the flavour.
Braised Stone Pork (RM45.00)
Served sizzling hot in a stone bowl, the whole slab of pork belly tied with banana fiber thread definitely attracted the eyes even before it was savoured. Braised in thick brown sauce, the pork belly looked better than its taste though. It was okay but could have been better with stronger seasoning and braise longer time for softer texture.
Mala Intestine (RM38.00)
Surprised! This dish appeared to be the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of that evening with the enjoyable crunchiness of intestines blended with addictive numbing and heat sensation from the spice and aromatics.
Cumin Lamb (RM38.00)
A stir fry dish of thinly sliced Australian lamb, potato sticks and julliened capsicum that redolent of perfumed spices.
Spicy Chicken (Small – RM30.00)
Mixed in a pile of dried chilies and fried soy beans, diced chicken had a competent flavour and texture but the scarce amount was rather disappointed though.
Crispy Eggplant (Small – RM20.00)
This was the Feng Wei Brinjal that I always cook at home, crunchy sliced eggplants coated with sweet and sour sauce.
Stir Fried Vegetables (Big – RM30.00)
Last but no least for the fiber quota. (◕‿◕)
Verdict: It was a lovely festive feast with good food and precious companion. If I’m craving for China food, The Farmer certainly one of my favourable options.

Judging from the queue, this type of food must be very popular. I read your post this morning when I was going to post the menu from Luck Farm. They are very similar to the dishes that you had and look pretty good to me. Since you had a positive experience and The Farmer, I can be quite sure I might enjoy the food at Luck Farm. We’ll see!
PH, this proved that your instinct is correct, you revisited the outlet near your place several times and enjoyed the food immensely.
All the food here looks very appetising but too spicy for me and my son let alone mala (I’m surprised that Sam can tolerate the heat). That seafood stone pot….I want!! 😉
Kris, most of the dishes we ordered weren’t spicy or we requested to tone down the spiciness.
