Yak Yim Thai Kitchen @ Taman Paramount, P.J

Recommended by hubby’s friend some time ago and we finally made it to visit Yak Yim Thai Kitchen (Yak Yim) a few days before Christmas Day on last year.

The restaurant has a simple setting with very minimal decoration of framed pictures hanging on the walls.

Yak Yim’s menu is sufficiently filled with classic Thai fares included Appetizer (Isan style Sausage, Thai Fish Cakes, Thai style BBQ Pork – RM13 to RM25), salads (Papaya Salad, Glass Noodle Salad, Fried Papaya Salad, Mango Salad – RM15 to RM20), noodles (Pad Thai, Tom Yum Noodle, Pad See Ew, Boat Noodle – RM14.90 to RM16.90) and assorted dishes to pair with steamed rice, sticky rice or Khanom Jeen (fresh, thin, rice noodles). Choices are aplenty which comprise Seafood dishes (Steamed Squid with Lime Sauce, Stir Fried Basil Seafood, Grilled Shrimps, Tubtim Fish with Mango Salad, Fried Squid with Garlic, Tiger Prawns with Tamarind Sauce, Siakap in Black Peppercorns, Steamed Siakap with Soy Sauce – from RM18 to RM55), chicken, pork (Green Curry, Stir Fried Basil, Pandan Chicken, Fried Chicken, Stewed Pork Leg, Grilled Pork Neck, Pork with Lime Sauce, Pork Panang Curry from RM18 to RM45), vegetable from RM15 to RM30 and desserts (Mango/Jackfruit Sticky Rice and Red Ruby – RM12).

Beverages list covers classic Thai drinks such as Thai Milk Tea, Pandan/Lemongrass Water, fresh coconut, Chang/Singha beer, Thai Sodas, as well as coffees, soft drinks and teas.

Thai Milk Tea (RM5.90)

Tom Yum Seafood (Small – RM28.00)

There are options of red or clear soup and we always opted for red soup for a more appetizing appearance. The broth was well balanced and had a good kick of spiciness and sourness level that we enjoyed. Generous serving of fresh prawns, clams, squids and fish fillet heighten up the scrumptious-ness.

Grilled Pork Neck Salad (RM25.00)

The grilled pork slices together with abundance of herbs and spices were tossed in a spicy and zesty roasted rice powder fish sauce dressing. The dish had multiple layers of textures and complex flavours that fully represent the character of Thai cuisine – bold and robust! My one minor gripe was the pork neck could be grilled longer for more smoky flavour.

Plain Omelet (Small – RM3.00)

Crispy edge and fluffy center, the texture was spot on, however the taste was slightly bland and the omelet was on greasy side.

Prawns Fried Rice (Small – RM17.90)

Well executed fried rice, fluffy with decent Wok Hei. There are options of squid, chicken or pork.

Listed under Single Plate dish, which comprises Minced Pork Omelet Rice, Thai Basil Minced Pork/Chicken/Crispy Pork/Squid Rice, Thai Stewed Pork Leg with Rice, Red Curry Prawns/Pork/Chicken Rice, Pineapple Fried Rice, Kailan Crispy Pork with Rice, and etc (RM13.90 – RM17.90).

Verdict: Yak Yim definitely a good place to assuage one’s yearning for Thai cuisine and I felt very excited when I was writing this because I can fix my craving at Bangkok next week! ヽ(^。^)ノ
