Yen Can Cook ~ Canned Braised Peanuts & Pork Stir Fry
My Jazz-up-your-canned-food recipe list is growing with more varieties of canned food being used. Today’s recipe calls for canned braised peanuts which is soft tender whole peanuts in light savoury braising gravy.
Canned Braised Peanuts
Ingredients (Serve: 3-4)
1 canned braised peanut
400g pork (pork tenderloin, pork shoulder or pork belly), thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cubes fermented bean curd (Fu Yu)
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
A dash of pepper
50ml water
Cooking oil
Sugar to taste

Step 1: Heat up cooking oil in a skillet, saute minced garlic till fragrant then add in sliced pork.
Step 2: Cook the pork until slightly browned on both side then add in the fermented bean curd and water, stir to mix well.
Step 3: Add in oyster sauce, dark soy sauce and pepper, turn to low heat and let the pork braise for 15-25 minutes or until the gravy is thicken to your preferred consistency.
Step 4: Add in canned peanuts, stir to combine. Serve.

Never thought of cooking this canned peanuts with pork. I usually just steam it…lol!
I have seen those canned peanuts. I can just imagine if I cooked this dish, my partner will pick up and eat all the peanuts first. LOL!
