Yen Can Cook ~ Steamed Minced Pork with Mushroom
Can you name me a few ingredients/food that you always have in your pantry or fridge? For me, I always make sure that I have some minced pork in my freezer because it is so versatile that I can transform it to many dishes, such as THIS SERIES that I’ve shared in my blog. Today’s recipe is one of my favourite dish to cook whenever I run out of idea for weeknight dinner ~ Steamed Minced Pork! This dish is a very flexible and hassle-free dish which doesn’t need any preparation (provided that you have minced meat in your freezer like me (^_^)v ) and you can add in other ingredients to your plain steamed minced pork to make it more enjoyable. I’ve tried the Dong Cai (冬菜) version and this time, a mushroom version. (*゜▽゜ノノ☆
Ingredients (Serve: 3-4)
500g minced pork (used half lean half fat meat)
100g mushroom, finely diced
Chopped spring onions for garnishing (optional)
Seasoning
1.5 teaspoon light soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons water
2 teaspoons cornflour
1 teaspoon cooking oil
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 1: Mix minced meat with mushroom and seasoning ingredients, set aside for 15 minutes.
Step 2: Spread the meat on a slightly deep stainless steel plate or a large heatproof dish.
Step 3: Steam in a wok over rapidly boiling water for 8 – 10 minutes or until cooked. Garnish with chopped spring onions.
HAPPY COOKING! #stayhealthy #staysafe
If there’s one thing in my freezer, it’s minced pork too. Like you said, it’s so versatile we can cook many things with it. I do steamed minced pork frequently too though it’s usually with a beaten egg so that it’s not so dense. I can’t get my steamed minced pork to be so soft and smooth like those I get from the chap fan line. Don’t know what secret ingredient they put in it or how they make it so smooth. I like it with toong choy.
Kris, sometimes mine is quite dense too, but this round quite okay, perhaps the cornstarch did the magic?
Shouldn’t it come with… salted fish? hehe
KY, salted fish definitely can enhance further the flavour!
