Myung-Ga Korean Restaurant @ Taman Usahawan Kepong
I am Korean food aficionado, I love Korean BBQ, Dak Galbi, Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup and assorted kimchi stew/soups. So I was really excited when I knew that there is a new Korean restaurant opened at my nearby neighbourhood.
Myung-Ga Korean Restaurant located at Taman Usahawan Kepong, diagonally opposite Happy City Steamboat; branch out from their first outlet at Klang.
A relatively new restaurant start operating less than one year. The spacious interior and spick and span furniture gave me a comfortable feeling.
As usual, an array of different banchan (side dishes) was served right after our ordering was made. Total of 8 side dishes were given which was quite generous however none of them really impressed me; very mediocre indeed.
Normally our obligatory order during Korean meal session is the BBQ meat but this time we wanted to be more adventurous and try the Jeongol. Similar with Jjigae, with the main difference being that Jjigae are generally made with only a single main ingredient, and named after that ingredient (such as Kimchi Jjigae) while Jeongol usually contain a variety of main ingredients.
The mini stove that make sure our hotpot keep boiling throughout the session.
Kimchi Jeongol (RM 60.00+)
Served in a deep metal pot, the casseroles was laden bountifully with ingredients such as kimchi, sliced pork belly, tofu, glass noodle, enoki mushroom and meat dumpling. The bright red sheen soup was well balance flavoured and had a good kick of spiciness & sourness level which I like. The addiction kicks in after my first sip of the soup and I can’t help myself but keep scooping more from the pot. ^__*
Pipping hot and keep boiling~~
Dolsot Bibimbap (RM 25.00+)
We also got this for Sam since she can’t eat spicy food 😛 Assorted vegetable such as spinach, cucumber, carrot, pickled veggie, onion and a perfectly done fried egg with runny egg yolk laid on bed of white rice.
The chili paste was served separately and the dish also came with a complimentary miso soup.
Have a good mix of everything and the bibimbap is ready to be eaten. Definitely not the best I’ve tried as it tasted quite bland and the rice was too soft for my liking.
The serving of Kimchi Jeongol definitely mean to be shared by 2 or 3 persons, so we ended up take away the balance and it became my lunch for the next day 😛
Verdict: There are hits and misses but most probably will come back to try their Korean BBQ meat. Any Korean food lover out there wanna join me?
