Okomen Japanese Restaurant @ Desa Sri Hartamas

Already bored of Chinese food when Chinese New Year? Let’s have some Japanese cuisine today!

Okomen Japanese Restaurant, located at a fairly secluded nook of Desa Sri Hartamas (row behind Maybank Desa Sri Hartamas or Daorae Desa Sri Hartamas) specialises in Okonomiyaki.

Okonomiyaki is Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning “what you like” or “what you want”, and yaki meaning “grilled” or “cooked”.

Tori Oko (RM 15.80)

Arrived in an attractive presentation, their signature dish of Tori Oko beautifully dressed with sweet sauce and mayonnaise in nice pattern. Consisted of flour mixture, cabbage, egg, onion and pork, the flavor was slightly too bland for my liking but luckily the sauces have saved it a little bit 😛

Another Okonomiyaki topped with bonito flakes and sunny side up. The egg definitely added a creaminess to the pancake and the “dancing” bonito flakes not only eye attractive but also gave it a pleasant savory taste.

Verdict: The food I tried not really wowed us however this seem like the only place that offer “authentic” Okonomiyaki, so I will still come back if I’m craving for it 😛
