Croisette Cafe ~ The affordable French Cuisine
I had a lovely dinner with my fellow foodie friends last 2 weeks at a little humble cafe which tucked away at the most unlikely location; poolside in Cascadium Condominium, Bangsar.
Croisette Cafe serve French inspired food with very affordable price and they also have the very “wallet-friendly” set lunch which available from Tuesday to Friday. Who said French cuisine = Fine Dining = Freaking Expensive?
The unpretentious, homey and no frills setting.
Overlooking the swimming pool and garden.
What is French food without wine?
Comfy and relax ambiance with some small decoration items brighten up the whole space.
Dining with gentle French tunes at background, perfect to sooth a hectic day at work.
Special dishes of the day clearly written on the chalk board.
Set menu which is available from Tuesday to Friday – 11.45pm till 2.00pm which priced at RM 30.00 nett for 3 course business set and RM 23.00 nett for express set, both come with a bottle of mineral water. Menu might changes depending on the freshest ingredient available so check their Facebook for the choices each week!
Greek Salad Feta Cheese
Consisted of fresh iceberg lettuces, olives, capsicums and tomatoes dressed with feta cheese, the colourful presentation definitely can whet your appetite .
Tabouleh
A fairly special salad made up by using couscous and various vegetables. Munching on the crunchy texture of the couscous was an pleasant experience and the flavor of the overall salad had lifted up by a squeeze of lemon juice.
Soup Cauliflower Cream
Nice creamy texture and I can taste the natural sweetness from the cauliflower, jazzed up the overall taste with a sprinkle of pepper for that extra kick!
Duck Liver Pate
I must confess that I don’t like the taste of the liver even the luxurious foie gras can’t win my heart so when I saw this served on our table it really make me scowling. But…….. this house made duck liver didn’t have any gamey taste that I scare of. Smooth and creamy with savory aftertaste, slathered on the fresh warm toast for that great enjoyment!
Rotissaladiere
The roti canai base was baked till crispy with copious topping of caramelized onions, garlic, anchovies and onion. The contrast of flavors between the sweet onion and salty anchovies definitely manage to stimulate my palate.
Pasta with Smoked Duck
The spaghetti was coated evenly with the luscious creamy sauce accompanied with smoked duck, creating a burst of flavors. But my friend found that the combination was slightly too salty.
Duck Patty with Beans
My favourite dish of that night, a truly comfort food for me! The minced duck meat patty with lovely charred edges was flavorful and coupled with subtle hint of herbs. The taste of the bean in tomato gravy was mild which was went well with the duck patty, like match made in heaven I would say ^_*
Sea Bass Fillet with Leek Fondue
Thick and flaky sea bass fillet laid on bed of leek fondue in bright yellowish hue. Nothing really impressive but nothing to complain as well because I’m not fond of the distinctive flavor of leek and it just a matter of preference.
Chicken Breast Mushroom
Although chicken breast was used but it was amazingly not dry or bland like we would expected to be! The creamy mushroom sauce was nothing less that outstanding and definitely heighten the level of sumptuousness of the overall dish.
The accompanied potato was perfectly executed too, mushy and creamy~
Duck Breast with Garlic Cream
The duck breast was cooked medium rare where the tenderness of the meat still retained. The sauce paired with was heavenly scented with garlic which came with an exceptionally strong and pleasing flavors.
Mains aside, Croisette Cafe is deserving of a visit based solely on dessert and a kind warning to who planning to pay them a visit, don’t ever share your dessert!
Sable Duo Mousses and Morello
Sable, also known as a French Butter Cookie is a classic French cookie. The name ‘Sables’ is French for “sand”, which refers to the sandy texture of this delicate and crumbly shortbread-like cookie. When I have a bite on Chef’s house made sable I had a moment of blissful silence for a moment there, so crumbly and combined fabulously with the silky smooth mousse!
Sable Assorted Fruits Patissiere
Another sable creation with extra fruity twist from the addition of strawberries, purely enjoyment and I’m at cloud nine 🙂
Passion Indulgence
The texture of this mousse cake was compact resembled cheese cake but more lighter to the palate and the accompanied passion fruit & berry sauce gave it a tangy and refreshing sensation.
Chocolate Banana Pudding
Chocolate and banana always the best combination, agreed?
Peach Melba
Berry sauce, peaches and Vanilla ice-cream, dig in to find out the layers of surprise!
Trio Chocolate
Last but not least here came the glorious Trio Chocolate to end our meal. Although this is not part of the set lunch menu but Michelle, the owner insisted us to try out one of their best seller dessert at Croisette Cafe. Made from three layers of dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate, definitely won’t disappoint the chocolate lover!
I was satiated, how about you?
Croisette Cafe also sells whole cakes upon orders.
Meet the maestro behind the lovely dishes that night – Chef Pierre-M. Chaillou who really show his passion on cooking and his vision to prepare the best to the customer like he is cooking for his family!
