Foo Fee 福啡 @ Bandar Menjalara, Kepong
Hubby had been pestering me to visit Foo Fee and finally we were here for brunch on one of the weekend.
Business was certainly brisk on that day and we had to wait for a while to get a table. The dining area wasn’t really big, with tables quite cramped within the space. The beverage counter took up some space at the back of the restaurant.
Dim Sum, snacks (meat balls, fries), noodles (Thai sukhothai noodles, meat balls noodles), rice dishes (Nasi Lemak, Korean Fried chicken rice, chili eggplant rice bowl, braised minced pork rice), assorted breads, toasts and croissant with variety of spreads and fillings, sandwiches and cakes (banana & butter cake). Cold brew coffee, cold brew milk tea, chocolate drinks, teas, soft drinks
Scrambled Egg Toast (RM7.80)
Sit atop of the charcoal toast, the perfectly done scrambled egg was fluffy and a little bit runny on the texture, generous in portion too.
Nasi Lemak Fries (RM8.80)
Out of curiosity, hubby ordered the Nasi Lemak fries. Crowned on a pile of French fries were basic condiments of Nasi Lemak included fried anchovies, peanuts, sambal and a soft boiled egg served separately. I like the freshly fried fries, crunchy on the outer with soft interior, the Nasi Lemak condiments were decent too, but the whole package, didn’t really appeal to me. The sambal and egg rendering part of the fries limp and soggy.
Classic Vietnamese Egg (RM8.80)
Served in a mini wok, the sunny side up eggs were topped with minced pork, Chinese waxed sausage (Lap Cheong), sausage, onion, eryngii mushroom (?, I’m not sure :P), spring onion and coriander. A small bun was served along to scoop up the sauce and gravy. It did not hit us with big surprise, a pretty average one I would say.
Dried Shrimp with Pickled Vegetable Fish Rice Set (RM15.80)/ Ala carte (RM12.80)
I opted for one of the dishes from their special menu which was only available for limited period. It’s a rice bowl with pan fried fish fillet (couldn’t identify what fish was used, but definitely not dory fish), preserved turnip (大头菜 Dai Tao Choy) and dried shrimp, some eryngii mushroom cubes and French beans, as well as a nicely cooked onsen egg. Good portion and I really adored the umami taste and savoriness from the preserved turnip and dried shrimp, which heighten up the flavour of the overall dish. The only gripe was the fish fillet had mild fishy taste.
Cheong Fun Set (RM8.30)
There were All Day Set in their menu which offered set meal comprised a main dish + drink, priced from RM8.30-14.80. The main dishes available included bread, noodles and rice.
The Cheong Fun (rice rolls) served with soy sauce concoction, some cripsy fried bean curd sheet, sprinkles of fried onion, chopped spring onion and coriander. The Cheong Fun was good, slippery smooth and those aromatics enhanced the flavours of it.
♥Verdict: Decent food, wallet friendly prices, making Foo Fee a worthwhile neighbourhood restaurant. Revisit? Why not? Foo Fee is quite a popular dining spot among Kepong folks, so you may have to expect a waiting queue on weekends.

Yes, the fries do look good but I’ll probably stop at sambal, ikan bilis & kacang (this combo with fries still doable) but no soft-boiled egg on top please. Who eats nasi lemak with soft-boiled eggs anyway….kekeke! ;D
Kris, like one of my friend told me, it’s just a gimmick, but the flavours cannot match lah!
Cute name, Foo Fee 🙂 Quite interesting what they serve. Like Kris, I won’t top the fries with the soft-boiled egg (I will just swallow it. LOL!). I see that you have started dining out now.
PH, this visit was before but yeah, I’ve started dining out, during weekends, kind of back to my previous practise.
It’s dory when we don’t know any 😛
KY, but the texture not as soft as dory, I wonder if there are different kind of dory? o.O”

Very bad service. One of the waitress show black face. The beverage was served after meal eat finished. The girl who show black face shd go for lower quality restaurants work. She will spoilt foo fee image.
Fennie, I’m sorry to know about your unpleasant experience, hopefully the management will make improvement on this matter.
A better quality waitress with good manner come and give me one egg tart and apologize for the late serve beverage. Thks. But those waitress with black face shd not work in servicing industry. Even a beautician with good smiling face.
