Foo Hou Dim Sum 富豪点心楼 @ Bandar Menjalara, Kepong
Occupied the space which was previously a vegetarian restaurant at Wisma Menjalara, Bandar Menjalara Kepong, Foo Hou Dim Sum is the latest addition to delight the residents in the neighbourhood.
Since we know the Dim Sum restaurant that we frequent would be rather busy on Sunday, we decided to give Foo Hou Dim Sum a try.
The spacious, bright and fuss-free dining area definitely earn brownie points to your dining experience, especially when social distancing is one of the crucial SOP for eateries. Outdoor seating are available too.
Tie Guan Yin (RM4.00/pax)
Siew Mai (RM6.80)
Har Gao (RM7.80)
There were less than 15 options of steamed Dim Sum in the menu, and both Siew Mai and Har Gao which are the quintessential items for Dim Sum session were pretty average. They were plump and meaty but the flavour was just mediocre.
There are a few interesting dishes such as Siew Mai with Dong Guai (RM7.80), Taro Balls (RM8.80), and Oyster Sauce Wheat Gluten (RM5.80).
Deep Fried Salad Prawns (RM7.80)
Freshly fried and generously filled with prawns.
Pan Fried Radish Cakes (RM5.50)
This was pretty average too.
The deep fried Dim Sum selection comprised of the usual dishes such as Deep Fried Nestum Fish Rolls (RM6.80), Deep Fried Shrimp Rolls (RM7.80), Fried Radish Cake (RM7.80), Fried Yam Pastry (RM6.00), Fried Sesame Balls (RM5.50), Stuffed Tao Pok, Fuzhuk & Yao Zhar Guai (RM7.20), just to name a few.
Char Siew Bao (RM2.90)
The Char Siew Bao served here was the standard size version (not the mini size one). The bao skin was adequately fluffy but the meat filling was a letdown with too much fat meat.
Sang Yoke Bao (RM3.90)
I like the big portion of the meat filling, as well as the flavour of it. The meat filling was moist and savoury with hint of ginger. Other bao option were Salted Egg Yolk Bao (RM5.80/2pcs) and Pandan Lotus Bao (RM2.90).
Loh Mai Gai (RM6.80)
A rather good version of steamed glutinous rice with generous ingredients of chicken chunks, pork, mushroom and Chinese sausage. The glutinous rice was well flavoured and soft.
Prawn Cheong Fun (RM7.80)
The rice rolls was okay but the amount of the prawn was a bit scarce. I like it came with vegetables. They have quite an interesting variety of Cheong Fun included Char Siew (RM6.80), Vege (RM5.50), Special Duo (RM7.20), Crunchy Vege (RM8.60) & Yao Zhar Guai (RM8.60).
Porridge with Minced Pork & Century Egg (RM5.80)
The porridge was alright but nothing particularly worth mentioning.
Other choices included Briased Peanuts with Stewed Veggie (RM5.80) and Mussel & Peanuts (RM6.80).
Steamed Layer Cakes with Black Sesame (RM6.80)
Served pipping hot, the layer cakes were soft and fluffy with pleasant nutty aroma and flavour from the black sesame. If you’re here, do not attempt to miss this!
Egg Tart (RM2.90/pcs)
Crumbly and buttery with generous egg custard filling.
♥Verdict: Although the food was not on a stellar level but Foo Hou Dim Sim still a good place to head to for some pipping hot Dim Sum. The spacious interior and the attentive service warrant repeat visits too.

The whole menu looks very delicious. Some items are slightly pricey esp the Siew Mai and Har Gao.
TM, actually I’m suck in remembering the pricing, but for such comfortable dining environment, I think the price was reasonable.
On photo, the pan-fried radish cake looked quite good though. Ooo, I dislike a char siew bao that has too fatty meat. The steamed cheong fun…eh, where’s the ma lai chan lat chiew lah? 😉
Kris, it’s a bit cloying after finished the whole Char Siew Bao, too fatty 🙁
Got, got, there was ma lai chan lat chiew that served along with the Cheong Fun, just that I didn’t include it in my photo 😛
Makes me want to have dim sum myself. The deep friend prawns look delicious. 😀
Tekkaus, you can only takeaway now. 🙁
I’ve already forgotten how dimsum tastes like T_T
KY, can grab or tapao mah.
