Low Maji Restaurant @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong
I have a soft spot for steamboat so when sis suggested to have a special steamboat dinner at Bandar Puteri, Puchong was met with instant approval! By the way, what so special you may ask? Please refer to the next photo~
The winter melons hill at the entrance of Low Maji Restaurant and these are the main ingredient of the aforementioned unique steamboat. Can you guess what kind of steamboat we were going to indulge?
Ta ta, the winter melon soup aka Dong Gua Zhong (冬瓜盅) steamboat!
Winter Melon Steamboat (RM 37.00+ / set)
The top of the winter melon was carved open as well as the bottom part was flatten then put in a huge pot just as shown in the photo. The set included a set of steamboat ingredients just like the normal steamboat.
The hollowed winter melon was filled with aromatic herbal soup and some boney chicken pieces. The broth was light in flavor originally and getting sweeter after a few rounds of ingredients cooking. The staff will also help to cut the flesh into the soup from time to time throughout our session.
Steamboat Set (RM 33.00+)
We also had the dual soups steamboat with choices of soup of Malat, Tom Yum or Clear Soup.
The ingredients included in the set.
The menu also consisted of ala carte order of ingredients such as vegetables, sliced meats, mushroom, fish balls and others. Just to name a few what we’ve ordered; Sliced Pork (RM 4.00+), Mutton (RM 6.00+), Dumpling (RM 3.00+), Fish Balls (RM2.00+), Enoki Mushroom (RM 3.00+), Beancurd Sheet (RM 3.00+), Baby Bok Choy (RM 2.50+) & Quail Egg (RM 2.00+)
Another attractive point of Low Maji steamboat definitely the option of sauces available, there are more than 10 types of sauces and condiments for your mix and match pleasure 🙂
Restaurant’s signature concoction placed on our table after ordering.
Low Maji can be quite packed during peak hours (eg: weekends dinner) and we saw a few groups of patrons waiting for table while we busy tucking in. So is advisable to make a reservation is you plan to visit this place.
