my Toast n Roast @ SS2, P.J
Toast & Roast always my first choice whenever the Char Siew craving attacks.
They has relocated to a new location since end of 2016, with a different name as well – my Toast n Roast.
The new shop is still within SS2 area but find a parking is a lot more easier compared with the previous location. The interior of the restaurant is simple with cement walls and basic tables and chairs. This new place also much more comfortable with air-conditioning.
We were there for lunch on a weekend and the place was packed to the brim and we were lucky to secure a table as a group of customers were just about to leave.
Iced Cincau (RM3.80), V Soy Soya Bean Milk (RM3.30) & Iced Chinese Tea (RM0.70)
Their signature Char Siew and Hakka Noodles still take center stage in the menu. Other choices such as Wonton Mee with various sides of Char Siew, Siew Yoke (roasted pork), chicken, chicken rice, Char Siew rice, Siew Yoke rice, steamed chicken, fried Wonton/Sui Kow, Wonton/Sui Kow soup, pork meat balls soup, Choy Sum, and a few specials of the day like chicken curry rice, pork green curry rice and Thai Laksa.
Hakka Noodles with Char Siew (RM8.50)
My usual order of Hakka Noodles with Char Siew was just as good as ever. The Hakka noodles was springy and well flavoured, with fried onions and crispy fish flakes.
I got a portion of perfect cut Char Siew with half lean half fat meat. Underneath the sticky sweet nice caramelized outer was lean meat with good bite and tender melting fat layer. Okay, Char Siew craving fixed!
Plain Hakka Noodles (RM4.00)
Turbo Meal Drumstick (RM14.50)
A rice platter consisted of Char Siew, Siew Yoke and roasted chicken drumstick. Other than the signature Char Siew, both chicken and Siew Yoke were just mediocre.
Verdict: This definitely cements its place on my list of best Char Siew! I’ve read some reviews mentioned about their Mee Siam was worth trying too, next time perhaps, very soon I believe \(^ω^\)

The place is crowded, testament to how good and popular it is. I must give this a try one day.
PH, you must I tell ya, if you like Char Siew 🙂
Yup, certainly one of the best char siew around. And no, they didn’t relocate….they opened their own under a slightly different name (to differentiate themselves from the previous Toast & Roast, run by other family members) from whom they’ve split due to some differences I heard). Ya, I like the simple mee siam too.
Kris, next time I’ll make sure to get a packet of that Mee Siam!
Their char siew is very succulent and melt in mouth kind.
Mel, make a visit to this place for your next KL trip!
One of the best Char Siew Rice served in My Toast & Roast–Ss2…Sean & Angie. Delicious and I love it very much!
Katherine, yes, 1st place in my list for Char Siew!
